I totally agree with you. I love video games; I am a huge X-box fan, but I definitely agree with you... More and more people are not getting enough exercise. Instead, they are too busy playing video games - they have their eyes glued to the screen. I would be surprised if these anti-social nerds went out for a five-minute walk. (Some people argue that everybody should exercise for 50-60 minutes a day on average.) A healthy body and a healthy mind go together. Seriously, one cannot exist without the other. If they keep on playing video games all day, not only are they hurting their bodies. They are also hurting their minds (this affects their social skills). I didn't mean to slide off-topic, but maybe, just maybe, I am trying to point out a possible motive. A potential motive: Maybe the shooter didn't have any social skills... Maybe that's why he went on a rampage. Anyways, everybody should go outside and exercise, regardless of the weather. Look... Even old people are finding ways to exercise.

Oh, as for the guy who was responsible for the Virginia Tech shootings, I shake my head when I think about him. I shouldn't talk about him much.

I have not sufficient elements to speak / opinion on the matter.
It was not necessarily a slaughter of children, but sadly Virginia Tech similar events occurred and were caused by an immigrant.

Don't forget Wayne williams the Atlanta serial killer was not a white kid either.Killed 29 kids

The most important thing first of all is to work on the school systems, put in proper guidance councelling, and train teachers on psychological student behaviour. School funds are stretched thin I understand that, but it shouldn't be too difficult to get a seminar in every once in a while for parents across various regions to teach them about how to spot strange behaviour in their child. You want to curb this thing by hitting it at it's source, put more effort into anti-bullying programs and ensure teachers are monitoring students against bullying and possible mental illnesses.

I don't think it would be too hard to spot that awkward anti-social kid, and have an in-school psychologist that can and is willing to help young people through their problems (especially during that messed up time being a teenager).

If you help kids deal with their issues, you'll definitely decrease the 'messed up adults' population. You'll likely see fewer murders as well. Talking about gun control is like advising someone to take an aspirin for their headache, but you're ignoring the fact that the person may just be dehydrated.

To be fair, the shooter in the Sikh Temple shooting in my hometown earlier this year appeared to be a redneck who was not a pampered white boy - he hated foreigners.

So someone would have to be entirely "get rid of all guns" to have the right scenario to have prevented this from a gun control angle.

In the USA, guns play a very strong self-defense role particularly as a last line of defense against --- for example --- someone trying to break into your home. Particularly if you live in the country.

The real issue ---- besides becoming Europe which won't happen and likely for the better --- these people that do these horrible things are NOT surprises.

They cracked down on sex offenders a decade ago, cracked down on militia types 20 years ago, cracked down on terrorist wannabees a decade ago and environmental wingnuts 5 years ago.

They can profile these bastards in advance and keep an eye on them. As an example, the Batman shooter was no surprise.

They need to lay down the boom on social-irregulars. Schools, friends, counselors know who these people are --- maybe even from their web browsing habits.

Dr. Michio Kaku and men like him are going to save us. I would bet money on the 'brainiacs' solving most of our problems, even the social ones where they are able to recognize what "creates a read to snap violent person".

I was definately profiled, watched, I felt judged - it made me hate everyone 'that much more'. I grew up in a rather small, gossipy town, filled with busy bodies and chatty cathy's.

The more the "School Psychologist" wanted to talk to me the more I wanted nothing to do with talking - which made them more paranoid, which made me more paranoid - it was asanine. I was a sad, sad kid going through a lot of abuse and I had no intention of telling anyone - and I sure as hell shouldn't have been expected to spill my guts to government employees or gossipy bushit artists.
