    Monster was just telling me how much he hates respawning quad, slow hook and ctf in general

    Still at work and have plans tonight but I'll get one game in. This game will be dedicated to Old Yeller.

      It was fun. I saw Sole and Spooker. My team was losing when I joined and then we were victorious in the end! Go Red Team!

        FUN?!!? It SUCKED. Totally bullshit. Everytime I respawned, BAM I got gibbed instantly with someone who had the quad.

          I wish I could have joined in. I was involved in fixing my UI and it was late when I finished.

          Monster, are you sure it was quad? Maybe someone that had the STR rune? I think they make the same sound.

            It was definetly quad. Or Quad and Strength. strength doesn't always one-hit gib like that.

              Monster, CTF isn't spam quake. You can't expect to jump into a game with, get 10 powerups as soon as you spawn, and dominate with out even playing a few games to learn the maps. (Pub ctf uses standard id maps, but you need to learn where weapons and armor are, where the bases are, etc).

              Some of the maps do have too much quad, that needs a vote option, or have them spawn randomly, etc. quake.intertex.net is maintained by r00k, who is an active player and listens to feedback from players.

              Monster you're a fast player with good aim, but you've got no strategy. Once you get that down we'll talk about style.

                You can't jump into a CTF game with the Runequake mindset - you'll loose every time if you do that.

                I actually agree with Monster though that on intertex, the Quads respawn way too fast. On levels with 5 quads, you can run the entire map with quad if you time yourself right. Quad's shouldn't respawn so fast or else it turns the map into whoever controls Quad wins. That just shouldn't be the way a CTF game plays out.

                I noticed Monster was also complaining about the Hook speed on Intertex saying it wasn't fast enough (like mtown used to run). Just to address this, the original CTF hook was super slow. It was even slower than the 3wav hook if I'm not mistaken. The hook on intertex is much faster than the original hook but not as fast as runequake's. This is actually a very good speed for it to be set at.

                  If the hook speed were any faster, players like me who have some IHOC in their blood, would be able to play in a way that less hook adept players would despise.

                        I should have been more specific. My all time favorite CTF map was CTF1. I'm sure it's not in there.

                          I KNOW the maps. And if you think I have no strategy, you are horribly mistaken. WHen I had dialup I didn't know how to use strategy at all, I didn't even use headphones to my advantage, just the shitty speakers. DM and playing with TIA and other players has taught me the use of strategy. I just don't know CTF strategy too well I guess. The quad respawn is just gay. Don't think I'll be playing CTF much anymore. And with the slow hook, you are just so vulnerable sitting there while you are waiting for the hook to hit the wall. Even a second of sitting there can cost you your life. You can move around when you fire the hook, but you have to stay somewhat still or your hooking won't be so effective. With MTOWN and Runequake hook, you can just hook and you pretty much almost instantly are where the hook went. If you guys even know what the hell I'm talking about.

                            We know what you're talking about Monster, but fast hook is what killed trinicom. You know how hard it is to gun down a fully armored, hooking machined, flag stealer? The Game would be no fun. You have to rely on your team to defend you as you slowly crawl back to your flag.

                              I can maneuver and survive just fine with the intertex hook. Like I said before you are going into the CTF game with the Runequake mindset. You are relying on the fast hook speed of Runequake to play the game when you can't. Many players can survive just fine with the slower hook...

                                Well then, how do you describe how fast you get back to the bases? With the "slower" hook. I guess I'm not supposed to do bunny hops with that type of hook.
