This is the worst thread ever. So much miscommunication and drama and too many "Roosters in the hen house."

I think this thread should be locked and start another one with Mono's first post. In the future all rules/mediation should come from Mono/Ramp. It is helpful to have votes and input but once the tourney is started, we need someone to run this thing with an iron fist. Any more dramatic crying posts need to be edited out of this ctf tourney thread.

Mono - because he has ran a successfull ctf tourney before and is pretty level headed.
Ramp - because he is anti drama and very efficient. He is also straight to the point and doesnt jack around.

I agree with Vis and wouldnt rematch it but again, i think it needs to be left up to Mono/Ramp. Lay down the hammer and players need to follow it. If not get the F out of the tourney. These are hard enough to run as it is.

Running the tourney with an "iron fist" has failed many times. (Disco must be unaware). Iron fists only work when supply meets demand. Unfortunetly, we don't have that many players to rule with an "iron fist".

What you did in the past really doesn't matter because apparently it isn't working today.. It doesn't take a degree from Harvard to run a tourney. I'm not sure why you would make a statement like this? Credentials? I think you earn more credentials by showing and not speaking. Mono ran the last successful tournament that i know of and it was last year, same time frame.

Yes he did and I'm glad. Mono's past ways of running the tournament was very friendly, hands off, easy going. It has worked in the past but now we have more people and more trouble makers. He needs to be more vocal and more stern.

and? If you read back towards the beginning of this thread, I was made an official too. That doesn't mean i come on to the boards and clash with everyone else and help contribute to the problem. (although now i feel like i am being sucked into it by defending my views against someone who clearly has a very short memory)

Actually, you seem to have misinterpreted what i said. There is nothing wrong with hens/sheep/every day people. You obviously read everything i said the same way you read most other people's posts in this thread. You easily take offense to things people say and look for a way to argue about it. What i just said in that quote above, is absolutely correct. Too many people trying to talk at the same time. Too many people in charge. It happens all the tI'me in everyday life.

No they have tried to run it but you have argued and bitched about it at every turn. I can go back and draw your quotes from every post to give proof if you need me too? I figured you could remember your own actions and at the very least read back through all 30+pages.

I don't think we are short on players. We have enough to field 3-4 teams of 3s. That is pretty impressive. This isn't a liberal convention where nothing gets done and everyone is a boss. If the players want to play in a ctf tournament then they will play by the rules. If they want to fight and argue and forfeit then they need to be kicked from the tournament. The majority that do not want to waste their time and follow the rules shouldn't have to be punished for the few bad apples. From someone that talks about running tournaments before YOU should know this.





I think you should do everyone a favor and sit back and let mono run this thing. In fact, just play frenzy. You are a player in this tournament. If you want to have so much control and question everyone else's input then you need to run your own tournament.

My input wasn't far fetched. It is simple and straight forward. Let the person who started this run it. Rampage at one point contributed some much needed and helpful input to help get the tournament up and running again. The 1st thing you did was call him out instead of encouraging or agreeing with anything. You have some serious control issues and maybe it is because you think you ran some decent tourney's back in the day. (Must have been a LONG time ago because i don't remember any recent ones)

3wave Setup

i had to un and re-install quake recently... and after the HOURS i spent figuring out how to get it to work in the first place, anyone wanna hook up a link and direct me to a directory guide to get my ish running ?

To get what working? Which client? Or are you talking about 3wave?

Make sure you delete opengl32.dll from your quake folder, and glide2x.dll is not needed either.

To get 3wave going, just download these files:

Part 1 (includes pak0.pak and pak1.pak 10MB )

Part 2 (includes pak3.pak 31MB )

You can set 3wave up two ways, one is super easy:

Just take the pak files that you downloaded and throw them in your Quake\ID1 folder in numerical order with your existing pak files. So if you already have a pak0.pak and a pak1.pak, rename the files you're putting into ID1 to be pak2.pak and pak3.pak , so forth and so on.

Load up your client and connect to a 3wave server (yayowave.quakeone.com or zero.quakeone.com) and you're good to go.

The Other Way

...is to create a folder named "ctf" in your QUAKE folder.

put the paks that you download without renaming them into this new ctf folder.

right click your client that you use to play Quake, and click "create shortcut"

go to the client shortcut you created and right click -> properties

once that is opened, click "cmd line"

add -game ctf to the end of your exising command line (make sure there's a space between your client command line name and -game ctf)

Load up your client and connect to a 3wave server (yayowave.quakeone.com or zero.quakeone.com) and you're good to go.
