    I have this crazy base structure almost complete. By that I mean I have like 5 raw rooms (sorta). gb mentioned verticle and I am definitely pushing whomever is next in that direction. I have a lot of trim to do.

      when you make spaces, pay more attention to the layout than to the theme. Textures can be changed.

        lol the entire thing is grey. Dark slate to be specific. It's only architecture but, I'm not going heavy on brush detail like I usually do.

            I got this storm the castle thing I hav been working on today. i haven't broke it yet... its kinda 1996 quality and i did mod a prefab for the iron gate work...

            if it is any interest to the group i will send it in to GB when its more done.

            if it is not of interest no issue... but seeing this post made me want to try one more time

              jdstoner, that might be hard to connect to whatever other people make.

              People should create rooms or room-like areas with well defined entrance and exit so all of them can be easily connected.

              A chain map also means that you add onto what the previous person made, not that pieces are collected.

                I had another idea. What if everyone starts a map and passes it among this group? That way everyone has something to work on and we have 4 or 5 maps when we're done.

                  Adam sent me a skill selection area he made for the chainmap! It looks pretty cool. Vertical Ebon Fortress style.

                  It has teleporters, so that's how it can be connected.

                          @everyone does own thing...not chain map

                          :/ right, it's 4 or 5 chain maps, it's also a way to let everyone set the theme/style for a map, as-well-as keep everyone working.

                          Please tell me that you are aware that, I absolutely understand what a chain map is. This is why my posts are all suggestions. What suggestion have I made that disrupts the spirit of a chain map?

                            I'm not sure why we have to turn a simple thing into a multi-map pack with custom QC, Mad Gypsy. That's not what I signed up for and I'm not sure the others signed up for that either.

                            The goal with Quakeone's first chainmap pack should be to ship something. That means we should keep it simple because we're not all experienced mappers.

                            A chainmap is not the place where you can deliver your mapping masterpiece, it's supposed to just be a fun little thing.

                                adam has sent me his work and ill be adding something to his map!
                                will post here with pics when i make progress on that


                                it probably wont be same quality as adam's work since im not exactly a pro mapper,
                                but i definitely will be trying my best!

                                also i agree with GB, lets just keep it working with standard quake and not use its own progs.dat,
                                at least definitely for a first try at making a collaberated map.
