Actually, I've already explained it on the first page:

Do it your way - enlarging the texture with a smoothing filter then sharpening - and you'll end up with some fuzzy high-contrast looking trash

Or how I did it - a non-filtered enlarging, then painting over with photoshop, liquifying and fixing every pixel and smoothing over any "stairs" manually, applying overlap textures - a very noticable difference (Espcially in my Chthon and shambler)

    Also
The original textures were 75% perfect, all they needed were some small fixes to make them 100% Quake. All those "HD/original" textures that others have made are really unQuake looking, at all.

Didn't you guys see the Chthon and death knight ingame shots?

I mean, most of them look as if they were the original textures that Adrian Carmack made before he downsized them in the final product. - I've applied very light overlay textures, because anymore and the mdls may appear too different.

Looking at Reforged's Vore might help

I think they are nicely done - i can tell they aren't just scale-ups of the original. TBH, although i respect the Reforged project guys for what they are doing, I've never been a fan of how it looks. These skins could use some blood, then they'd be awesome.

It'd be cool to see some sort of medium-poly model pack to go along with this. Not that it'll ever happen, but something to slightly improve it, while keeping that old-school "quakey" feel and still being noticeably polygonal.

Appreciate your comment, it man... though I hope you aren't a hemophile like some people (Amon26 and some of you other kiddies out there)

Yeah, a portion of you guys may not be aware, but my HD skins are actually based on Clean Skins which I posted here some time ago

F you if you were sarcastic
