  • Quake Movie Finished!

Some of you have heard of me working on this forever... Well i finally finished. This has taken me longer than I initially thought and real life always seems to be in the way with work/family/kids.

This is my 1st video to ever make so please keep that in mind. I know it is far from great. I kind of rushed it towards the end and it could probably use a little more polishing.

One of my main issues with making this was the lack of quake demos I had to draw from. I have had a limited amount to skim through, for great shots. I was hoping to use Challenge TV for source material but I havent been able to download from them since the summer time.

I tried keeping a list of all the people that helped me make this in some sort of fashion. Thank you to everyone who has helped make it and sorry if I accidentally left you out. I also had to cut the ending down because it was getting to long.

I dont want to embed the video because it looks terrible watching it in a mini window. I cant figure out how to disable auto embedding. So just copy and paste.

Also make sure to watch it in 720P if your conneciton allows!

I like it. You've tried to do some interesting things there and it comes over quite well.

I'm trying to build a little archive of the better Quake 1 movies on Youtube for posterity and wondered if you had any objection to me adding this vid? if not is there somewhere I can DL the original?

Just out of interest, what video production software did you use to build it? Adobe Premier? After Effects? Just curious

Edit: You've probably seen this before but if not, and just in case you would appreciate a little inspiration to go on and make more Quake movies, here's one I found [and uploaded] earlier...

    Kind regards

    Monty

Very nice. Better than anything I could smash together.
I only have one real complaint that bothered me, you seem'd to move the spectator camera in game while recording which gives it a unprofessional feel. Again, this is most likely just me.

Keep up the good work. I'd like to see another one of these with less dm3.

Mr Burns - Yes feel free to add it to your videos. I will find a place to upload it to so you can download it. Will post back in this thread the download link.

Monoz - Yes that was you with the grenade man i am sooo sorry i knew i forgot someone! I am going to be making a ctf one and will make sure you are in that one. Thanks for helping me.

B-Feared - you are right, it does add a sense of amatuerness to it. I was trying to cut down on me moving the camera as much as possible. Thanks for the feedback though.

SCP (Scorpion) - I forgot to thank him as well, he added a little scene at the end of the movie. Thanks man. Viva Brazil!

I was really tired last night and forgot to add some things. One thing you will notice in the video is that early on you can see people's names, etc. Rook made a command in Qrack and i think it was in his latest beta release. This command allows me to keep any text off the screen which was a huge help. 2 commands actually. Keeps all form of communication and all center screen text off.

By the time i had that commands and new the latest QRack, i had already recorded too much stuff and didnt want to go back and re-record.

I did use all 3 clients at some point or another during the movie but it was like 92% qrack throughout most of it. I know everyone will probably wonder why the graphics arent that great and none of the bells and whistles are on display.

I just wanted to focus on making the movie and there was already a learning curve for making this movie and didnt want to take more time to figure out how to make all the clients look the best and all the mdl's, paks, etc.

My next video will display the higher graphics possible in quake. Seven has already helped me with DP and i will continue to get help from him and others like him in the community. You guys are awesome.

Looks like a tribute to DM3, except for a brief appearance by a lone RA map

Good Video. If you ever do more talk to Monkey, he was working on a little project a while ago and has tons of quick clips ready to be put together.
