I prefer Trillian, which combines AIM, Yahoo, MSN, and ICQ. But that's just me.

Only bad thing is, with Trilian, you can't use voice chat. But it is the best one out there if you don't want a bunch of different buddy list windows clogging your memory and screen space.

Ah didn't know that, but that's only because I never use voice chat. I get very few IMs anyway.

I've used the big three (GAIM, Trillion, and Miranda) and have my preference

GAIM is by far the best, but also unstable for a Windows platform, which eliminates it as a suggestion.

Trillion is quite stable, but is a lot of extra bullshit.

Miranda IM is actually one of the better clients, completely no-nonsense and stable. Definitely a suggestion.

Whenever Bank wanted to send a file over to me, nothing would come up on my screen. Think it was the same scenario vice versa

            C*S = Gaim
            Bank = Trillion

I use Gaim because I can edit the src to look/feel how I like

I use 2 MSNs (list is full), ICQ, YIM, AIM and IRC (gamesurge).

Gaim 2.0 beta has never crashed on my windows xp. Which environment were you using?

Dont use Trillion, too much extra bullshit.

And I used the GTK (as opposed to the non) if I recall correctly.

I use GAIM for my MSN (since I uninstalled MSN from Windows) and I haven't had it crash. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, just that it hasn't happened to me.

                  aim, irc, icq, yahoo, googletalk

i also used skype once. Lardarse sounds very British. it might have something to do with him being from England.

hear ye! hear ye! the official quakeone chat shall be SKYPE! it works while your playing games online very well and you can have conference calls MUCH easier than ventrilo and teamspeak!

And if we don't use that, then google talk or xfire.. Though they aren't quite as good as skype. teamspeak works well too I suppose but not as good. Because you can't do things as easily.

Oh, how does game 2.0 beta look? does it still look and feel like crap like it used to on windows or does it feel much better? jw. Miranda IM is my choice of client honestly

                      We should have a poll.

I use Ventrilo for my personal use and Teamspeak for the guild. It doesn't get much easier then those two. What's so complicated?

I will find you... it's only a matter of time.

I'd recommend Ventrilo myself. I was useing it while playing an extesive CTF game on DesertCombat.

Please explain what you mean by that. I can't seem to find anything wrong with Trillian.

Well it's more complicated than skype because you have to choose a server and sometimes even need a special server password and you have to register with the server. With skype, you use it like you would use AIM. Except it has much better voice chat and video chat capabilities.

There's many advantages to skype such as calling anywhere in the US and canada (I think that's the only 2 countries) free. And you can even get skype in for a fee, and skype out for a fee if you're in other countries. Great huh? Everything is cool about skype except the fact that skype in for my area code is nonexistent.
