is e1m8 a proper quake map? i thought e1m7 was the highest

e1m8 was made by American McGee inspired by the Mayan and Aztec influences in the early stages of Quake. Originally it was more lava oriented, but playtesters complained about it being too hard, so he put in more walkways.
I like e1m8, not the best map for deathmatch, but its different, and if you cant handle a change of scenery, or gravity, every now and then... youre just missing out on a whole lot of Quake =)

ahhhhh ziggurat vertigo, i remember now, you had to press the two switches in e1m4 then go back and swim though the hole.
one thing to remember.... kill all enemys on e1m4 then go back to the enterance to e1m8 or you wont get all kills :damd 3200 2.2ghz

Back on topic. Judging by how people have responded to this thread, I'm not going to make any changes to the map's physics in the whitehot mod. If people don't like it then they don't have to play in it but I've been getting tons of messages from people telling me to keep it how it is. Case closed and thanks for your opinion
