      hmm thats weird.. I get that ^7 tacked on to the beginning of every line in my qconsole.log when i use -condebug in Darkplaces. It must somehow appear tacked onto the end when proquake users connect. Annoying when I dump the waypoint information for my frikbot .ways to the console. I have to delete all of those ^7's.

        Frenzy - I think his reasoning is for the More Deaths style of the mod, to increase volatility and craziness (without it being an incoherent mess like RuneQuake). Having the quad in play more often shakes things up a lot, which falls into the clusterfuck - but not skill-less, style of the mod.

        Supa - I agree with you about the sng, it sounds awesome but I just didn't find it useful.... ever. I got most of my kills with rocket and ssg, and in e4m7, well... quad shaft.

        Thought on keeping the craziness of the quad with Supa's idea for a quad drop... Quad strips you of your armor on pickup, and prevents you from getting anymore while it is active in you - you dish massive damage, but you aren't as protected.

          how about making the NG have bouncing nails.. like in painkeep mod.. might make it slightly more usefull and fun.. (may cause lag tho if its used heavily by a lot of players)..

          also... how about making the SSG (or the NG like in painkeep for that matter) give u a little boost upwards if u aim it at the ground.. not quite as big as a rocketjump but a enuf to make it to higher ground where u cant go by just jumping alone.. and without selfdamage.. (or maybe just a little)

            I like the idea of quad drop since when I played I would get quad and almost instantly get killed by someone. It almost seemed like a waste for it to just disappear, even if it wasn't me using it.

            You could also add quad-steal like on Fear.

              Quad-dropping would certainly add to the more deaths element. But some people don't like being 1-hit all the time when people have Quad. Maybe just add it, test it, and see what people think about it. Make a few polls

                To add my biased thoughts into the quad drop suggestions: There are a lot of quakers that feel there shouldn't be that much quad. The thing re-spawns every minute you know ;o

                @Baker - The reason you see the ^7 is a DP version of the Quake3 coloured font. ^7 is normal, while 0-6 and 8-9 are different colours. The ^7 wasn't there before but I think people caught on that players forget to put a ^7 after their name and end up changing the font of the entire death message. So in a ways, it's a good thing.

                When you use the DP client, you don't even see it. Instead you see a different coloured font after where it would be. Here's what it looks like:

                  That's the reason the painkeep ricochet nailgun (which is separate from the normal one) fires high speed nails high damage nails and less often (every third frame I'd guess), with much more impressive sound effects though

                    Regarding the ^7 issue, I intend to make it only add that on names that contain color codes, so only the colored names end with it - and they already look weird enough with their color codes to a normal quake client, so that's not out of the ordinary

                      Played again and it still kicks ass.

                      One more suggestion - could you add a sound effect when someone enters and leaves? It really helps me know when someone's come in so we can greet them, ect (and I'm really used to hearing something when they come in too).

                        12 Players!



                        Things I will 100% add in the next version:
                        • splash + explosive barrel fix
                        • no firing when respawning (unless someone wants it)
                        • show selected weapon in HUD
                        • sound when player joins server (there's already a disconnect noise)
                        • You got the Rocket message bug. I messed up on that
                        • Less rockets when picking up RL or GL
                        • Increase Nail velocity from 1000 to 2000


                        Thing I'm still thinking about:
                        • Dropping Backbacks (do you really need them? I never found ammo stringy with lots of players)
                        • WeaponStay Shmack Style
                        • exiting in any map other than start will teleport player to a spawn point
                        • bio suit regens health every second instead of every 2 seconds (only lardarse suggested this)
                        • Instead of droping backpack, drop weapon
                        • observer mode and voting system (won't appear in the next update but will sometime)


                        Things I'm going to add in the next update just to see how people like it:
                        • respawning explosive barrels
                        • more powerups
                        • falling damage is judged by velocity
                        • custom NewDM sounds provided by Bank


                        Things I want to remind myself to look into:
                        • water kills
                        • telefrag frag point distribution

                          this mod needs eyecam/observer (make it CAx style and make sure it wont fuckup fov ) and offcourse... CUSTOM MAPS!!

                            This mod got me interested the first minute I connected! I'm not a big dm'er now but in the past that was all I did and this mod made me think of how fun DM could be It has its own personalities then vanilla DM

                            making packs not drop was something I quickly noticed, but this only separated how I use to think of "kill a player, get more ammo from his pack" which forced me into a constant search for a weapon, LOTSA FUN!

                            I like the idea of speeding up the nails and =peg='s idea of adding ricocheting nails, this would be an awesome starter weapon as long as it didn't over power any other weapons and could be balanced

                            This mod could easily be a classic in its own category with a couple more small add-ons I would say. For instance how about a rune that gives you "3 hooks" in NewDM ? (Hook could only be shot 3 times before it degenerates?

                            Game play 10/10
                            fun factor 10/10
                            weapon balance 7/10
                            User friendly 7/10
                            (I completely forgot that the NG came standard as a respawn weapon)

                                After playing twice on the server, I really enjoy it. Although I don't have any suggestions for it at this time, I'll just say that I enjoy the modified super nail gun and the lighting gun. They feel very powerful when using them. And I enjoyed deathmatching all the people that were on the server. Your all good sports

                                I will certainly play this more often.
