  • Best Looking Graphics Pack

Hey guys, I'm new to the forums and I've liked them so far. I've been experimenting with new textures for Quake and I've found some but I've seen better looking ones in some pictures and videos. So I'm here asking what is the best quality and the best looking graphics pack for Quake. Thank you.

A question that will get you a thousand answers. I prefer the unfinished Starbucks texture pack.

Can you post pictures and why is it called Starbucks texture pack? Also I'm going to buy the Quake Trilogy and I'm wondering if it requires a product key, if you have the Quake Trilogy version. Thank you.

The only thing in the Quake Trilogy that requires a product key is Quake III

its called Starbucks texture pack because the creator of the pack has the name online of Starbucks, and they are quite faithful to the base textures. Just run around e1m1rmx by czg and Vondur to see for yourself.

Thanks man, the skybox looks amazing on some of the pictures. Sorry I'm such a nub at this, but I know many people play Quake online so I'm wondering what they use to get onto Quake servers, like a client? And I've been a map editor for many games, UT2004, CS:S, and Half-Life: 2. So I'm used to the whole map editing scheme, so what map editor would be good to use for Quake? Sorry if I'm asking all these questions. Thanks.

well if you can play those games, I recommend Darkplaces. Again, my opinion only. Others will recommend proquake, qrack, joequake, etc. I recommend Darkplaces:

Here's what darkplaces looks like on my setup (well my setup looks nicer now than it did before but this is still nice )

Right now I use worldcraft. Many people don't prefer it and say that it is obsolete now.. Heres the link to download:

Many other people prefer BSP such as LordHavoc since it has so many more features than Worldcraft and more advanced editing tools to make things easier and make more complicated brushes faster.

                          http://www.bspquakeeditor.com/

There are also many tutorials to get started mapping.

There are many more editors out there such as QuaRK, GTKRadiant, Quest, Stoneless, etc. I would suggest BSP however based on the good things I've heard about it. I use Worldcraft since its always what I've used. It is still a good editor however.
