  • Free Quake Lessons

The "Free" is just to get attention for this post.

Although I have not played quake for some months now, and I do not plan on replaying I am willing to help the new generation of up and coming quakers.
I dont think I need to mention my credentials, but if you're interested you can ask me in person.

To help further promote Quake, and playing Quake 1 have decided to take the initiative to provide newer or older players to help improve their skill set in Quake One. On my spare time I have helped train Mindz, Dot (aka . ), and a few other names to boot.

If you are interested in learning how to improve your aim, dodge movement, map tactics & strategy, and overall sense and feel for the game feel free to contact me and we can setup a time to train together on an open CA server. I am also available to train in 3wave, but I am not a DM'er although my skill set would be described as one.

Please no matter what skill level you are at, do not be ashamed to ask for help. Even though I am not playing I feel I can be of some support to new upcoming players and others.

Contact me via email at [email protected] or MSN at [email protected]

I think it would be cool, if you recorded demos of these sessions to be archived for future reference or made some .avi tutorials etc? You could make Ramp's DM3 strategy guide or how-to hook e4m3 faster... Personally I found watching demos of old clan matches the best way to learn.

      Update:

A few people have e-mailed me asking where they can download Quake1 and start playing and Get server information.

This is a big step and it shows that even through these forums and incoming visitors Quake can achieve a rebirth and growth. The proper steps have to be taken, not just suggestions about map rotations and low population problems.

CA clans.. like DOOM, In10sity, IOV during their peek times.. X5, HDZ in 3wave

You're a DM player so it would be hard for you to recognize me, thats why I said I help CA or 3wave players, where I am known.

You can ask n0vmode or Bludshed who I am.

Ramp's a great guy and a good player, but to save quake it takes new players.
The mods are written crmod, ctf, ca, ra, runequake, Rquake Coop etc...

What Rampage is setting is an example of introduce your friends to quake and "train" them with you to play like a leet. I think most average players can learn in about a week, if they have ever played an FPS game, then atleast a couple months since most games ARE *sigh* on DM3.

I will try to Integrate maps as well as I can Rook. I'll play it on personal selection of the player as well. It really has much more to do with the mentality, and talent of a certain player. I will take a look at the weaknesses a specific player wants to improve and try to strengthen those areas.

It will become much more indepth, and infact any of you can come as well, it's not necessarily for new players its also to promote activity for current players.

This is only a small portion and solution to this situation. I feel if i can invest a few sessions here and there training and helping players it will increase server population.

By increasing population I hope clans will reform as well as be created. Hopefully the overall talent pool in Quake will grow back to the way it used to be, we're seeing a wealth of new players but no talent growth with not many old school players to teach the new ones as much as possible.

With Clan growth I hope we able to achieve tournaments and server growth across Quake. Again, it's only a small step, and I am really busy myself but I will do what is necessary, I have seen here enough posts about people trying to reunite Quakers on servers with no avail.

So I might as well start somewhere, like I said it is probably the simplest yet funnest game I ever played, and new FPS just don't cut it for me.

                          blah

ramp's a good guy. great player. taught me how to grapple in 3wave (though you wouldn't know it because i can't do it anymore).

ramp, does this mean you'll actually be around for some ctf from time to time?

                            shao, it's possible.

I still want to play but the problem I'm facing is that I now have an LCD screen that is incompatible with gaming.

So i've been forced to sit aside and watch Quake die while I'm sitting here typing away on forums.

I can still play but my FPS are significantly lower, and my screen is choppy from frame to frame.

So i find myself limited, but at least i can still provide my help and knowledge and pass it down to others until I can get a new screen and play again.
