I've played many games and Quake continues to be the most unfriendly game by far. If you ever expect Quake to regain popularity you can't call every new player a newb/scrub when they join. It doesn't work that way.
Good point, although I must admit that every game has their "a-holes', and really, we can ALL be a-holes sometimes. My fav game right now is Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and I was just playing last night when I was Tked, on purpose, for no reason. And the ETQW forums are not full of real nice people either. But I must admit, they are no where near as bad as some of the people here. For example, no one would post something about them being the best. I think the maturity level is better at other games.

Edit: Also, I played COD4, LOVED THE SINGLE PLAYER! But the online version is VERY tough, and you die real quick...maybe it's a lot like quake though, and it has a long "learning curve" at staying alive. I like ETQW tons better....

But being the best, out of 10 players, isn't saying much.

Yes, Spoon please send me that list.

/Like you, I don't agree with naming names in public.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

I agree with the above statement. However, it's the ratio that really kills Quake. I've dealt with unpleasant players in other games, but there is normally an admin around to take care of things. Plus, the player base is radically higher so the ratio of 'children' to maturity is tolerable.

In Quake a new player could join a 12 man server and 10 of people will gang up on them because they aren't 'skilled' enough. I rarely see this happen in Quakeworld and find myself there more times than not. Things have to change ...

Cool chad, I'm only up to about level 29 right now. I just started playing it like last week and I think I've probably only logged about a tad over 10 hours. Really wanna unlock the g36c assault rifle but the g3 I'm using now is workin pretty well. That game definitely took some getting used to. I'm used to quake so I was getting my ass handed to me at first.. but once you adjust to the flow of the game and know where people like to hide out and snipe it's alot easier.

That is the thing, COD4 SP is short, 6 hours. MP I heard is where it really shines into terms of longetivity. That is why I am onto the fence about it right now.

It is usually 50 dollars, there have a sale for it onto Steam - 40. Still too much, I will grab it when it becomes 30, because a lot of good games stagnate at 30 for a long time.

yeah, i use the red dot scope, m16 as the gun, stopping power, x3 frags, and deep impact. that's my setup. lovin this game, and yeah it did take a minute to get used to. I just set my config remotely close to q1, and the rest was history. addictive game, first one i've really liked besides quake in awhile.
