1280x1024 isn't heretical. Screw 4:3! My monitor itself is 5:4. And 16:9 is even better.

Yep, 1600x900.
I haven't had time to tweak it yet but I get a whopping 60fps. I can get more if I play with it.
I will find you... it's only a matter of time.

What kind of frames you get with that old timer?
Actualy they should be real good frames, now that I think of it..Quake had a min req of a p90 and 8mb vid card.

More fps=good. I tend to use lower resolutions. All dependent on mood.
When you have a high resolution, you can see things in the distance well... but I like to have optimal focus in close-combat situations.
512x384 is a pretty good size for me (my laptop can only do 800x600 so it's big enough). The opponents seem manageable at this size :-)))))))

Ya they tell me this thing is hot, BUT I like quake 1 ..so it's overkill.
It should still run well on your rig, but that will give it something to actually do. Though you can get much better performance using Romi's rtlights files which look good and are more gentle on your gpu and cpu.

I'm using 1024x768 with GLpro. What's the highest res GLpro can do? I might try some other resolutions to see what I like best. I forgot what the command line was supposed to be like. I think it's something like... glpro.exe -width 1280 -height 1024 -bpp 32? I forget. I would like to try quake in the 1280x1024 resolution to match my desktop. Currently with Quake in 1024x768 the screen always gets cutoff if I minimize, which I accidentally do from time to time. Also, sometimes things on my desktop will popup and minimize quake, and then it screws it up. Not sure if that's due to the resolution or not though, that's what I'd like to find out.
I've been wanting to try one of the fancier new Quake clients like Dark Places, but I don't think I'd be able to join servers using the ProQuake Anti-cheat module would I? That would be a bummer. I guess i could switch back and forth between clients for different servers, but that would be kind of a hassle. I'm fine with GLpro anyways.
