      Made it myself. Just an idea I had to make some fake quake one art, as if they were going to remake the OG quake.

        A Quake graphical remake (with new age technology and possibly object physics) would instantly be a hit! I'd pay money for that.

        I'd like to see...

        -High-poly models
        -Detailed but simple levels
        -Better monster AI (running zombies, more large boss fights)
        -Realistic effects, water ripples, breakable glass & location based damage for models.

        That would be in MY Quake remake, along with that badass pic you made


        Once I started playing Quake 1 I instantly started comparing other games that would come out afterward with Quake 1, sadly, noneo fthem ever managed to capture the simple, brutal, primal, bloodbath death frenzy that was Quake.

        The more bullshit you addon to a game... the more bullshit you have to walk through.

            From my understanding, Quake can be turned into a free version of Quake(obviously with a name change too) by replacing the models, textures and sounds. Baker's project named SynQ is proof of that transformation.

                Doom3world • View topic - QuakeRemix, Quake 1 Shadow - or not to shadow...

                Someone started this in 2005 for the Doom3 engine (uh, why not Quake4?), not sure how far he got or if his media was ever released! Maybe we can ask him

                  damn its a shame my pc can barely handle doom3 but.. i just tried that Shamblers Castle mod and boy does it look sweet!! playing it at 10 fps wasn't so great tho.. but maaaaan if only quake (the quake we all love so much) looked this good!

                    well we've already got the textures, the models (well some of them)
                    and Doom3's source is bound to come out soon, this year probably.

                    That leaves very little to recreate for a port.

                    That leaves AI...and uhm I'd say some modeling.

                    Of course i think ai and models would make for a much better quake experience in the Darkplaces engine too.

                    Some hunt your ass down bloodthirsty bastards for AI would be nice.

                      Oh yeah

                      and we have twig (urre) and gyro (quakematt)

                      I think there's plenty more that can be done with the tools that have been available for quite a while now.

                          No, but I think there is a Md5 -> SMD -> MD3 converter (blender?)
                          Cube2 engine can load md5 models and its open source so...?

                            forgive me but i think a remade Quake would be horrible.

                            I'm speaking now as if the Doom 3 engine is actully being used to remake Quake (personally i have no idea how true this is) but i do know Doom 3, like Quake 4 let their respective series go down.

                            It would play like Doom 3 but in Quake maps and it would loose the feel that makes Quake 'five notches above classic'.

                            I play Quake on DOS coz i prefer the outdated feel so playing Doom 3 Quake isnt my cup of tea.

                            But like i said, its probably not true and that screenshot is probably someones work that they will never finish.

                              Shamblers Castle for Doom3 - A Quake 4 mod using the Doom3 engine

                              whats been released is called Shamblers Castle, and from what i see, it looks great, but I'm on a laptop that wont run it, so it'll be a while before I find out for myself.
