Best Quake Game

As a game, Quake 2.

However, the modding and developmental aspects of the first Quake game made it extremely more immersive to me, specially during and due to all the years I've spent playtesting it. Also, Quake made me learn so many things, and both changed and defined some aspects of my life in so many ways, that it's really my favorite.

Quake is fast and great even though the weapon balance seems way off in the beginning (you never use anything but RL and LG if you have those, fighting with them against somebody who doesn't have them is like having the QUAD in other games). And you can play through SP in like 3 hours without doing freaky trickjump stuff.

But there are countless custom SP and MP maps that are of extremely high quality and you simply have to adapt to the weapon balance thing. Once you get used to it (that's what I'm currently doing) the game gets better and better. I love the speed and physics, airrockets are more fun than in any other game. I started playing at euroquake and I gotta say that it's way more fun than all the other Quake games, including QL.

So Quake gets my vote. I also like Q2 SP and Q3A MP though. Q4 is a joke and everybody knows.

(Btw: stroggification in Q4 does affect gameplay, it makes you faster. Before it you're a one-legged turtle and I think the Strogg machine gives you a second leg or something.)

I freaking loved that game so much. The skins were the best. Ahhh good ol' days before counterstrike poop.
