Some people just don't get it, but I wont let it offend me because they just don't know better -eminem. I'm tired of giving my two cents to people that just wont listen, I'm better off dealing with the ordinary Chuck to achieve my goals and not deal with the idiotically of simple neglect of opinions, strength of others self being and know how for friends to realize that honest communication is the only way forward. An acquaintance left my house tonight in a drunken rage not knowing the outcome that would eventually end his life, he got into his car and headed for the freeway, but not 3 miles from my house got into a head on collision that killed him. I had his keys at one point and I failed by giving them to one of his friends to hold. My guest bedroom was open for him to crash but he got his keys and snuck out the front door and attempted to drive home which killed him. After this I'm at a point of "FUCK IT" cause i hardly knew the dude but the cops are putting it on me because "I supplied the alcohol and let him leave here". Now i have to go to court and plead my case on a possible wrongful death suit, I was arrested tonight and posted some bullshit bail. I have no idea whats going to happen but for some reason wanted to let all you guys know that i could very well possibly be fucked soon. You all are all like a family to me and I thank you all for the good times, jokes and hundreds of games we've played.

not trying to make lite of the situation, but i highly doubt your life is over. just get a good lawyer, if your first offense you'll be fine. other drinking related arrests and you may have problems. but either way, good luck man, though i'm sure you'll be okay. and for the record, even if it was my brother (or someone close to me) that had died, i wouldn't hold you accountable. i can't really imagine that your responsibility exceeds taking his keys. you did that, he found them, he took off. you didn't get him loaded then send him on his way or tell him to get the fuck out of your house then handed over his keys.

I've also witnessed a person close to me die due to alcohol, and almost lost another... though I wish to say no more about that, I do offer my sympathy and hope you come out okay... I know from personal experiance that it is very hard to stop a drunk. I hope to continue playing with you...

Yea, well, who served you the alcohol to serve it to him? Do they ask how its going to be used, and do they make you sign a contract that you are purchasing a potentially lethal weapon like a gun? No. If you were drinking, and it sounds like you were, then how are you suppose to look after someone else when you may have your own hands full with your own alcohol consumption? Yea, its all about the $ - the ones who took the money for the purchase of the alcohol are responsible , if anyone. I know if its served to kids 'underage' you are totally hosed....and yea, lawyers and judges and courts all excuse this if enough $ are paid, because by the time the next weekend comes, their memory is only as good as their last drink, and it may be one of them next behind that wheel instead of your friend. My advise is head to a local AA (Alcoholics Anonymous) meeting , sit there and listen...and learn. You will find you have more friends in times like this than you will ever realize.

I send my sympathy for the person who lost their life to alcohol, and pray you do not have to go to that failed attempt at trying to correct human behavior known as prison.

People do stupid things, thats what makes us so unique on this earth, stupidity has created a lot of things good, and in the other hand has taken so much away.

Don't sweat your drunken friend's passing, he only went to another place. As for you and the charges, the justice system tend to like to punish someone and the 5 closest people to them for the smallest thing.

Don't beat yourself up, you are only human. The way I see it is, yes you should be held accountable if you could see the future for certain and allowed the person to drive off drunk, but something inside me tells me your not Nostradamus.

Laws like that are sad to read. All these agencies trying to protect kids have no effective alcoholism prevention programs worth the print. The ones that are , all have adults as mentors who drink, and try to tell the kids not to....its a joke. I know because I volunteered once to work with them, and they got the kids all brainwashed that its ok to drink, just like them....and they even game to the meetings bragging about how they got drunk and no one cares. Sadly , its true. These 'mentors' didnt want me there anymore when I pointed it all out. When we adults get our heads out of our asses and get a spine, things will change.

as far as mentors go, and the ppL who feel they can speak out about alcohol. It's hard to rate, cause I think that a person who drinks, likes to drink, and a person who drinks too much regularly will sound like an idiot when they talk, and a person that does not drink has no place speaking out about alcohol (such as myself). All i know is - the best person to listen to is one that had a near death experience, but he too can tell u not to drink, it can lead to bad things, or, drink in moderation, cause too much can do bad stuff... It's really a double edged sword that has no place being looked at in a logical sense. u really think u are superman when u are drunk, and that "no way ! i wont get in an accident" I've been there myself WAAAY back in like 99' 2000' im so lucky i didnt fuck up. Ppl over the age of 21 can take it all in, and soak up the info, but those who havent tried must and will learn the hard way...

Like others have said, I hope all parties involved are 21 or older. You're fucked if the dude was underaged.

Don't talk to anyone without a lawyer involved if they're gonna try and pin this on you. Consult a lawyer before you do anything. All of them that I've dealt with will talk to you first without paying. And the quality of lawyer does matter. I had around 6-8 felonies and a few misdemeanors and the only reason I spent time in jail (besides when I got arrested) was because I didn't finish up my community service when I was suppose to.

Also, watch out for a civil suit especially if you're found guilty of the criminal suit they're bring against you if the victim's family is greedy or blame you.

I hope things work out for ya, dude. He made his own decision after you tried to prevent him from leaving. Stay strong and don't let anyone else make you feel guilty for what happened.

I would like to know more about what the cops said and whatnot.
