I've been wondeing what kind of mod to use if the people at essentrix ever respond to me about the max server that went down few weeks ago.

Deathmatch is all we need. We already have runes, we already have CA+, we already have custom maps, already have RA, FVF, CTF, runes, hook, etc.

Just make a good ol fashion deathmatch server with the options of teams

I agree completely with Canadian. Pure DM. WE do all have CA, RA, runequake, and others.

Questions ...

1. Why would we need another pure DM server when there are a dozen CRMOD servers? CRMOD servers list. CRMOD is the elite deathmatch mod, for the unknowing.

2. Does anyone actually know how to use CRMOD? I think shmack:26002 is superior just due to user-friendliness (vote-ring, vote-quad, etc.)

Try typing in commands in a CRMOD server and see 8 pages of techno-babel print on the screen. Do that at Shmack:26002 and actually get helpful commands.

A little off-topic: CRMOD might as well join CRCTF as a dead mod. Since the sources to CRMOD and CRCTF are not available, you might as well stick a fork in them.

Sniper? Do you realize how crappy pure DM is compared to CRMOD? CRMOD is as much of a debugged DM as ProQuake is a debugged Quake.

Pure DM you can do stuff like "kill", "kill", "kill" and can't change maps and otherwise turns the Quake clock back to what seems like the 1950's.

My vote is for TF/MegaTF, Headhunters, DM, Get Rich Quake, Zerstorer DM, Painkeep.


Honestly Baker, if someone was to abuse any problems in deathmatch, I would ask them to stop and if they did not, would leave. CRMod and such seem like a needless complication. Id much prefer hop on a map and make use of it for 10 or 20 minutes and enjoy the impromptu battles. Casual Quake.
