  • Capture the Llama!!!!

I am desperately looking for a Quake 1 mod that was even rare during the Quake 1 hayday. But, I still really would love the mod files, or maybe if they don't exist anywhere (I have tried looking many times), then maybe a remake?!

Anyways, I am hoping someone here knows and has the original Capture the Llama mod files. If you do, PLEASE msg me!

For those that don't know the mod, it is hard for me to explain because I barely remember it, but...basically...this is how it worked:

Two teams (like CTF red/blue), ideally with at least 4-5 players on each team, I THINK there were the 4 Threewave runes, but I don't remember for sure. There were no flags and no custom maps. I only remember playing on the ID single player maps (I ran my own server for awhile).

I think only 1 team had a Llama, the fun part was that one player becomes the llama and changes into a Llama model (which was really well made too, looked funny and realistic [there was even a funny llama.wav sound that played when you were hopping around as the llama]). If you were the llama, you could not attack (I think...I might be wrong, maybe you could attack), the game was kind of like Qball (if I remember that one correctly either...). If you were the llama, your team was supposed to protect you and you could be protected anywhere on the map as the Llama can move). The opposing team would try to hunt down the llama and kill it. Once the llama was killed, the opposing team would have one player turn into the llama. I forget if the llama sellection was random or picking up a dropped item.

The longer your team had a living llama, the more points your team gained.

At the time of the mod being developed, there was talk of making custom levels, etc. However, unfortnately, the mod never caught on, which, I think is really too bad, because it was really fun. I think development stopped and word never got around about the mod.

As you can tell, I can't remember the details very well, so if anyone remembers this Q1 mod, please let me know. Or if anyone has any information or definitely has or knows where the files are for the mod. I really would like them, please!

    Thanks!

I do have a perfectly working capture the Scrag mod somewhere on a disk.

Seriously?! You know what I am talking about?! Wow! That is even cool to hear, because it was such a rare mod, but I loved it so much.

I really hope I can get the files again!

Heh, I found this old review:
        Kill the Llama

The only filename I could dig up is llama11b.zip , but that would not even be the version 2 (not findable anyways).

Looks like a fun mod, I hope someone kept it.

OMFG! That is it! Awesome! I love you forever! LOL!
I forgot about the hay part! LOL! Another funny/fun aspect of the mod. All the cool runes, too. And yes, if you read how the game works/rules, it is very fun. It is so sad the mod never caught on more, probably due to what I said before and the review, no custom levels. Although, really, probably not even people even knew about it.

But, wait, so where is that llama11b.zip file?! You have it? Or have a link?!

Whoa, man capture the scrag... ! You got a good memory...I remember that server. The llama mod I never played, perhaps once but I am not sure. Probably could be dug up on the new somewhere with some good hunting.

If you guys ever find Caputre the Llama... I could host it. It would be on port 26003 though.

See my post on the previous page.

Also a QuakeWorld server would be nice, or a netquake one hosted with FTE so both nq and qw can play..
