I'm not trawling for players, as hell knows we now have plenty, but if you can compensate for the ping like ORL and Cold do (quite successfully!) I'm sure those looking for something other than repeating DM3 would be more than welcome to play on Bigfoot. There are more custom maps on there than you could shake a stick at, with new ones being developed and regularly added, and with the latest Proquake/Qrack it (usually) downloads the map automatically for you if you don't already have it. At least then the DM3 fans would be left to enjoy their level and you could come have some fun with the rest of us .

Don't get me wrong, IMHO Foq's point for a little more variation in Quake (especially in the US ) is quite valid and definately the way to go as it helps to keep the game fresh, interesting and helps to equalise things a little for those more "occassional" players. If the european experience is anything to go by I have to say Quake was virtually dead a couple of years ago whereas now the servers run by Biggy and Polarite are popular, have a good atmosphere, and generally attract friendly players (cough, except Pit, cough) so perhaps as an alternative less hardcore DM3 server it might be worth considering in the US? You never know you might attract some fresh players into the game like we did.

Funny how you DM3 ***s all say the same thing... "scrub mother fuckers". You sound like emocron. You guys are the scrub mother fuckers in that you can't even handle a custom map once in a while; its like when you come on speak and there's a custom map running, as soon as you get done beating on your desk and shitting yourselves, you vote to warp it back to DM3. You guys are very well trained. You could make great robots, only capable of doing one basic tack. Nobody would know the difference.

Yes, euroquake is nice. It seems to be the one and only place where players don't have a heart attack because the server changed maps, or hell, even game modes. It also seems to be the only place where players are friendly and don't make poorly crafted personal attacks because you voted for a different map.

I disagree with you pushing for DM weapon stay though (the FFA games on bigfoot aside). Weapon stay turns it into a totally different mod, with players boring themselves all over the RL spots in piles. Those hilarious and intense SG, SSG, and SNG fights determine a huge percentage of the frags in the DM3 TGs.

I can understand why DM TGs might not appeal to you, but
the control argument you've made...It's kind of like arguing that chess is a bad game because once a player plans ahead and takes a key piece, they have an even bigger advantage for the rest of the game. Well yeah, they earned it. The elite players win pretty consistently, regardless of slow or unlucky starts, and the players that are familiar with each other can pick really even teams.
