Adding new servers and actually providing support for these "tournaments" would encourage some players to come back and form real clans again.

I already contacted fatpipeservers to inquire about getting a server for FFA and another for CRMod, both in NY. On the website it says Quake 1 (QuakeWorld) so I'm just waiting to see if they are willing to host NetQuake as well. If the answer is yes, expect two new servers courtesy of Kathos!

He has always played with a ping of 65-80. We all know people love to play on east coast servers because the majority of players ping so low. Between pinging 20 on the west and playing 1on1 with bruce all day, or pinging 70 and playing 4on4s all day, I think the choice is easy for krix.

Well i live in Arizona.. So i'd always play on a west server if more people would... You're right though the ratio between east and west players favors east players by a lot.

When I get home, I'll ping it. Is this a machine at your house?

I'm getting a stable 70ms. 20ms from Toronto isn't that great either... When I ping a MTL server I get 8-12ms. Either way, I'm trying to setup a server in NYC as we speak, you should ping 20s-30s from TO.

                          I must have bad memory!

I have a way to make it so several mods can easily be hosted on the SAME server and they all can be available via voting.

The only catch ... the mod has to be open source.

So a single server can run Rocket Arena, FFA deathmatch, RuneQuake, RQuake, CTF, Slide, Team Fortress, etc.

The reason the mod has to be open source is the "vote-mod" has to be in the QuakeC for the mod. So a closed source mod like CRMOD which doesn't have any source code cannot be modified to have the new vote-mod code grafted into it.

But essentially, unless someone is dead set of hosting something like CRMOD, you don't need to choose what "mod" to run. And due to the efforts of PapaSmurf/Scott, RuneQuake's CRMOD "mode" is essentially a superior duplicate of CRMOD, except I'm not sure if it has the pause match capability.

So it isn't a question of what to run, but where to put the server.

/I came up with this idea last year and tested it. Then forgot about it. Baker -1.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
