Unban KIMP

I don't see the problem here. The reason why we don't ban people is cause when you ban 1 person, that takes away half the players that play this game.

What IF Kimp did do something wrong, who CARES. Whenever it is a serious game, even if Kimp captains up, which no one wants to do, we simply ask him to observer and he does. Kimp hasn't broken any rules as as far as this 'last' encounter no I don't have both sides, but as far as I know he didn't spam this server, he didn't bring it or the quake server down, and im pretty sure he didn't hack anything.

Kimp had a tournament going which had this community more involved than it has been in years which CANNOT be denied. I'm not saying Kimp isn't an idiot, but stop fkn banning people all the time just cause a couple of people hate someone. Everyone would be banned if that were the case. Wolv has done everything Kimp has done if not more. If you ban one person, hold that standard for the whole 'community'.

Basically my point is we should get rid of the ban's and get our heads out of our asses. Stop playing god and getting thrills with bans and locks when there is no point.

Whether or not he should be banned from here isn't a concern of mine, but kimp should be banned from every server that quake is played on. I'm not going to list everything kimp has done, but if you've been unfortunate enough to be playing quake the past 3 - 4 days and have witnessed the things he's done, you'd want him banned as well. You can ask these people: demiurge, shok, eieio, yorb, souless, cata, kathos, and several others.......

You can't continually go out of your way to purposely screw up the games people play in and be excused, because you've organized and maintained a dm tournament.

Comparing wolv to kimp is laughable. I've witnessed you rage quit in the middle of more than one DM game Zild. That is much worse than anything wolv has ever done. You do realize when you just quit in the middle of a game you've wasted the time of seven other people, right?

There should be a separation between game servers and the discussion board.

If players are allegedly misbehaving on the game servers, that is to the digression of the moderators of that service on how to handle it.

If discussion boards are being misbehaved on, that should be to the digression of the moderators of that service.

I don't understand how an allegedly misbehaving player can be banned on a discussion board for behavior on a game server that is not controlled by the discussion board.

Splinter, kimp should've been banned from these forums a long time anyways. He created a cd56 account in an effort to try and pose as me, to get the admin codes to the hdz servers off rook. That's the kind of crap that shouldn't happen on these forums. I'm sure you would agree?

why should there necessarily be a strict separation between servers and the forums? we are, after all, a community, and when you wrong other members of the community i don't think it matters what the medium is. to me the more important fact is that you've wronged people, not the particular alley you used to do it. the whole community shouldn't be monolothic, but kimp has misbehaved not only on servers but also on these forums enough to have merited repeated bans in the past. i don't see what's changed since then. he clearly hasn't.

banning kimp would improve the quake community. kimp has flooded servers, and admits it too. It's one thing to be a quake prankster for fun, but I consider kimp a nuisance due to the fact that he is some new quaker who does not communicate properly. And chit chat small talk isn't the problem. Kimp does not use loc binds during matches, he shoots blindly pretty often and does not follow orders. The only time Kimp bothers to communicate is for his tournament, getting a game together or saying "testing an exploit."
I know the dude has loc binds too, but won't use them throughout a game.
The only consistent thing that Kimp has done is waste our time.

I'm not saying to ban Kimp, but he is an annoying fuck. His reasons for spamming that server with multiple connections was to test if the vote option was by IP. I call bull shit. I know he knows it's not. I've seen him do it a million different times. And so what if he was ACTUALLY curious? Test it on an empty server next time.

Kimp was getting pissed because I wasn't responding to his stupid questions that he asks me seventy five billion times a day. So instead of answering with the same answers, I simply ignored him. He tried impersonating me, which failed miserably, and when he found out I didn't want to play match mode, he connected to the server multiple times and voted it to match.

Anyway, we were having a TON of DM games, and full servers almost every night before Kimp started this tourney. I don't give him any credit. He's a pest and he'll try ruining it for everyone else when he doesn't get what he wants.

Agreed. Abuse such as that should come with consequence, but only served up by the powers of the mechanism where the offense took place. If it was cut and dry that the mechanism was the community... then yea... power of banishment could reach across all services. In our current situation, our Administrators have defined that there is a line between message board and game servers. Message board users and game server users cannot attest to the same display of abuse (in reference to recent events). There is also mixed feelings in the community about this judgment... without discounting anyone's point of view... the only sure way to ban someone completely... is to let them burn their bridges...one server, one message board at a time.

It's kinda a "he said, she said" situation. If you don't have the same power looking over everything on every server... There is a threat the "Boys Club" could waltz in and point fingers...getting people banned cause they are popular... or unpopular.

I'm not trying to defend kimp because he has messed up plenty of games in dm and in ca. The fact is, so does a lot of people on a consistent basis. We haven't started a new phrase RQ just for kimp. The list goes on for people that rage quit and to point fingers at one person imho is wrong.

I completely agree with splinter here... If he has made a transgression on a game then kick him and ban him from the quake server. That is the root to which you guys are complaining about. He has done something on some server, then have him banned on that server! Pretty soon he wont be a part of the community anymore.

BUT, do what you guys want cause obviously splinter and I are out numbered here and I am clearly for what the majority of people want. I just remember reading something the other day about yellow, sole and someone else not wanting to ban people or smth at quake... I'm sure you know what im talking about.

Splinter, it seems you might not have personal knowledge of Kimp. I assure you, he is one person, and when someone says "Kimped" they're not accusing them of being Kimp but rather acting like him. Zord seems to say that we should ban him for some very small things, like not using loc binds or not communicating properly, which is ridiculous. But I think many people have had personal experience of his sociopathic behaviors--botting, flooding, connecting multiple times to "win" a vote, etc. Slot Zero, the admin on shmack, who has the lightest touch when it comes to admining and never bans people unless they've botted or flooded or something else egregious, has banned kimp.
