Attack of Banner Ads

Anyone notice how invasive these ads are?

I understand that we need them to keep the site going, but... on the down low... any tricks to minimize the real estate it takes up on the screen... or how frequently they appear?

I click the ads @ Quakeone.com frequently...

i just live with them and see them as an avenue to increase this site's value!

its not the fact that the ad banners are there its the fact that when you scroll over them by accident they fill up half of the screen and cover up most of the page.. they do have a close expanded view option but you have to find the hidden X in most of them as part of the graphics, its a little annoying.

There is very little anyone can do to stop this... Its the advertiser's ad that does this not Quakeone.com... untill the advertiser who pays money to display the ad stops running that ad it will appear.

yeah my 3 y/o has been wanting to see this, so at the very least i was going to download it, now i've sworn it off entirely. they cost themselves with that one...

We've only had a few of these invasive ads on the site... the 9 one and the one for the Saw movie... the rest have been fairly tame. The ads generally only run for a few weeks until new ad spots are added to the rotation. The 9 one has been on for a few weeks already so I suspect it will not be running much longer. Unfortunately with all the bandwidth you guys take up posting about Kimp, we need the revenue to keep the hosting up

Click the ads people, or Solecord will have to downgrade the server to a damp napkin... and nobody will be able to show Kimp love!

Yeah, those auto-enlarging ads are kinda annoying.

as annoying as the ad is, I have watched that little video about 5 times and it has enticed me to watch the movie. I mean, an apocalyptic scenario with rag dolls? how could you go wrong??
Too bad I'm using Chrome these days and can't block flash. On Firefox it's very easy, just get an add on (i think it's called FlashBlock)

Full screen-hogging mouseover Flash ads aren't cool. I was hoping Saw VI was an exception and not the rule.

Maybe Solecord has the option to not have overly intrusive ads?

Either way, this reminds me to install Flashblock for FireFox on this machine or is it adblock?

p.s. This huge Final Destination ads isn't requiring me to mouseover to help itself to virtually my full desktop screen.
