I have Adblock + and I don't see a single ad here. Running Fire Fox. but what I did note with FF is that I can't download here. I have to use IE. I don't think I can quote either but haven't checked that out lately.

Spooks—google crome is a huge privacy invasion, y'know?
everyone else—at 1024x768, the flash ad takes up half the screen. At 1440x900 it takes up like 3/4 of the top half of the screen. It's still annoying in that it automatically opens itself up... espically since I'm running the [email protected] gpu client on some computers and it really bogs stuff down when flash things are running, let alone opening themselves up into something even bigger.
Doing a little research, it seems a lot of people are up in arms because google sends what you type in the address bar to their server so they can return you suggestions. I think this is cool. You can turn it off though: Suggestions in the address bar : Search - Google Chrome Help
If QuakeOne.com was formatted to fit the the new sized banners, maybe it wouldn't be so invasive.
On the other hand, maybe that is the intent of the banner's marketing... to disrupt the site to gain attention. I wonder if there is room for negotiation.

That is hardly nefarious. The address box doubles as a search box. It's just a combination into 1 box of 2 things that firefox has in 2 boxes. How anyone could fail to notice that it's a search box as well as an address box is beyond me. I'm sure foq had something more serious in mind?
there's an option in google chrome that asks your permission to send your daily/weekly/monthly(whichever it is) activity on the browser to them for research and product optimization. by default the option is off, you have to actually make an effort to activate it. i don't see the privacy/security hazard, but i might be missing something.
"When I was your age, we used to rocket jump all the way to school, up hill both ways - IN BOILING LAVA!"
Just checked myself, and yeah, it's in the "under the hood" tab in "options". it's a check-box that reads "Help make Google Chrome better by automatically sending usage statistics and crash reports to Google". beyond that i haven't noticed anything nefarious.(i like that one)
Adj. 1. nefarious - extremely wicked; "nefarious schemes"; "a villainous plot"; "a villainous band of thieves" villainous

Not sure what specific issue someone was referring to about Chrome's invasion of privacy but I remember back when Chrome was first released there was some clause in the EULA which was considered an invasion of privacy. Within hours of internet news agencies posting articles on it, Google modified the policy to remove the suspect clauses.
Chrome also installed with a unique id for each installation, so potentially Google could point search histories and browser usage back to you. I don't know if Chrome still does this or not, but there are a few methods of removing the unique ID if you wish.
I use Chrome every day as my default browser. It's so much faster then Firefox, uses a lot less memory (at least for me), and can remain open for hours and hours without sucking up huge amounts of memory. (I leave my work PC on Mon-Fri and generally leave my web browser open when I leave the office. After a day or two, Firefox would be using 1/2 to 3/4ths of the available system memory. Too many memory leaks in Firefox. Chrome does not do this for me)
And the few companies that do want to buy it or collect it, just want to sell you stuff and -- again --- they really don't care about your personal information. Nobody cares!
So go see the Saw VI and "9" and STFU! I'm kidding, of course.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.
So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...
