Kimp is crashing the clanring servers, isnt that shit illegal? Can't we patch clanring mod to fix this?

What is he doing to exploit the mod? If its a bug in the code and we know his behavior/method yes we can fix this.Originally posted by tical View Post
There once was an exploit where someone could cycle connect attempts to the server, thus filling up the player slots with "unconnected" and no one could connect. But this has been fixed in ProQuake, and the person's ip address is exposed in the process.
As for legalities, anytime someone has to pay money to offer a service for others for free, and someone is counteracting the service, then I'd say it's illegal at least on a civil level.Comment

Kimp now has a way of logging on the server and it show that nobody is there (like stealth mode). This was evident last night when I was playing Glitch and a vote came up to allow player to join the game but we were the only two on the server. We both tripped out.
So be aware just because u see an empty server it don't mean that Kimp's not lurking in the shadows.Last edited by AAA; 09-14-2010, 05:03 PM.

IF ANYTHING, he has found away to send information to the server, same way one can be in their console and type test "rage.quakeone.com" and it will send you the info about who is on the server. He may be faking to the server as if he is a client, and passing an impulse to the server. Now this wont effect a player, meaning he cant fake your input cause you are on your own port to the server, but if there is an empty slot he maybe able to spoof a client message to the server. Typing status while on the server will show who is connected, if he is using a blank name btw... but if that's the case then the mod will kick him. In all dont let anomalies in Quake immediately point to KIMP, or else everyone will make him out to be more magical than he really is.Comment
