It can also be argued that gamers shouldn't use consoles, because they're so inferior compared to their PC counterparts.e|------------------------0---------------

A few days ago I was looking for Stalker shadow of chernobyl. Most of what I found were Steam downloads. IMO there is no replacement for having a original retail disc. I still have my original cd of Quake, Quake 2, Unreal, Mech 2 Mercenaries, Kingpin, Half-Life, and a few others I cant think of. With that being said, if someone is happy having a digital copy of their favorite games, thats ok too.(I guess)
As far as a console game, I have a 360 and to be honest I dont use it as much as I would like. I just couldnt see myself keeping up with all the latest computer hardware to play games, after being married with a job and shit. Especially to play most of the shitty games that come out these days, which is probably in part to the consoles, but more importantly the majority of the people who buy consoles. 90% of the reason I have the two computers now were to play Quake, and all the other older 2001 games. But now that I have the newer computer, Im checking out some of the newer pc games that I never got a chance to see.
In the last 3 years, Ive probably bought 12 XB360 games and have been happy with maybe 6 of them. Fallout 3 is single player only, and I really enjoyed that game. Gears of war 1 was alot of fun, multiplayer also(they totally fucked up #2 multiplayer with a ridiculous Halo/console type matchmaking system), Ive liked the Halos SP, never liked Halo MP. And Battlefield Bad Company 1 and 2 MP are alot of fun. Ive never cared for the Call of Duty games.
Ok, Im done.If you see 427 playing Quake thats me.

Actually, a decent gaming computer isn't going to be that expensive.
Decent chassis: $30
Decent motherboard: $70
Decent cpu: $50
Decent memory: $80
Decent GPU: $100 (I paid $100 for my GTX260)
Decent PSU: $100
Decent monitor: $100
Speakers/KB/Mouse: $50
Decent HDD: $60
Total cost: $640. Add $80 if you need an OS. These are all taken from new, retail price figures. Advantes? PC games are generally cheaper. PCs can do a shitton of things consoles can't. PCs have native keyboard and mouse support for everything, and controllers can be used with the PC, as easily and cheaply as plugging in a $5 USB device that interfaces with a Playstation controller. PCs have better graphics, faster load times, and games are just better on the PC. I have a copy of Quake 2 for the PC and the PS1, and the PS1 version has added in hallways that serve as a cutoff point for it to load the next part of the map. PCs are upgradable. PCs run everything better.
Typical console cost? $300 for a consle, $300 for a TV, oh shit we're already at $600...e|------------------------0---------------

I could never see myself doing that for ANY new games that are out. Good games these days are few and far between. I am planning on getting Starcraft 2 though. If you see 427 playing Quake thats me.
