Yes, it's me. I was invited to post in the forum by Mindzy. He said you are all interested in invigorating the Q1 community with something new.
I haven't thought about what could be done in the vanilla Q1 universe because I usually make a different game. I Usually do one sequel them move on.
If I was going to extend Q1 I would make a new texture set and create a new episode in a new dimension (#5).
If I was limiting the new stuff to only levels and not textures I would create an episode that was a 9-level Ebon Fortress. All levels would keep going vertical until the next level. At the top you'd have a huge open-top castle layout and looking over the edge would look like a forever drop.
Not quite a suggestion, but to those who don't know , read about why Romero was nicknamed "The Surgeon" back in the day,and why Solecord gave him the custom title "The Surgeon".
Micro. Had other aliases as well, zero/xero/tank. Played nqca mostly back oh I dunno 15 years ago. Spend time in clans with tm, otn, tem, iov, in10sity. Was young back then I say about 11-12 when I started quake. Still playing games today wanna play quake 1 again. Any old school nqca players around from erols??

[NP]-Striker- here.
I believe i remember you. Faded memory for sure.
So I just stumbled on this forum. I use to play Quake back when Heat.Net was up and running. Just recently found out about Quakeworld, and thought I'd dig around to see who still plays.
Heya folks. I'm Godling. Prior to Godling I also went by ELM_Inc for a few months after Quake first came out. The reason is that I was in a clan (more of an 'editing' clan than a 'gaming' clan) and was basically pimpin' our tag 'ELM' (Evil Little Men).
Eventually went on to work at ACD Systems as Worldcraft tech support. Okay, full disclosure, I played Quake more than I supported... a loooot more. I knew the coder who wrote it and that basically got me that job (still have a signed copy of [ame="http://www.amazon.com/DOOM-Companion-Edition-PC/dp/B000T6A5IM"]Doom Companion[/ame]... I'm such a geek)... plus my interest in level design... and two others from ELM were already working there also helped I guess. Was there for a year before all the rights got sold to Valve and it became Hammer.
Trivial note (read:name dropping): Evil Geniuses was 'evil' as it was ultimately derivative of our own prefix. We'd been around a few months at least, before our other local friends we regularly gamed with, formed EG. All of ELM were also made EG members at its founding, but we never played official EG matches... as I said... we were into level design... not level domination.
Okay, 'nuff name dropping. I revisit Quake every couple of years and this time I'm tempted to try some level design again. Not sure yet... we'll see. For sure going to get Darkplaces and a ton of mods working and hit some single-player. Sooooo... hi! /wave_all
