  • speaknow failed security scan

When I connected to speaknow tonight, everything was really slow and the message "Doug has failed the security scan" came up and dogs started barking. WTF!? I haven't touched a thing in my quake folder since I installed it again over 6 years ago. I've never had a problem recently and now I can't seem to connect to ANY server.

Has anything changed since yesterday in the sericuty department???
Does anyone know what is causing the security scan to do this and don't say "because I bot".

    Thanks

Delete all the Quakebot shit in your Quake folder, like Quakebot.exe and Quakebot.ini and you will pass the security check.

Even though you are (I'd presume) playing honestly and not using the Quakebot stuff, the security check detects it in your folder and won't let you play.

The CAx security scan specifically targets known bot clients.
Richmark, Stoogebot, QBOT, and a couple old Hacked Clients.

It's pretty outdated in that sense, though, newbs from the internet who google quake bot will most likely try those 1st, and get smacked.

Even a lagged connection will not provide a false positive.
Though, there could be a mere chance that *IF* you lagged (no response for > 30 seconds) at the same time the scan was working. If the scan times-out before the server declares you lagged (no response > 20 seconds). This would be VERY rare and i'd even give it a 1 in 1000000 chance.

A quakeworld client like FTE or ZQuake can fail simply because of protocol BUILT-IN FUNCTIONS incompatibilities.

If you reconnect, again and again and it does this then, well.. try installing a new version of ProQuake.

                Thanks for "some" replies...

I think rook got the answer right though.

I haven't looked in my quake folder in years and had no problems at all recently, so if nothing has been modified in the security, it's that 1 in 1000000 chance that rook talked about.

When I opend quake and typed "connect speaknow.quakeone.com" I also typed a few commands like, "exec fov.scr" (which is just simple commands that nobody wants to type everytime they log on) and bind a few keys.. I typed these really quick before the server even connected and then it showed "server to client keepalive" a few times and after a 30 seconds I connected but everything was really slow and like I said the security scan kicked in and dogs started barking.

So rook... would doing something like that trigger the security scan? Again I haven't touched anything in my quake folder in years, nothing has been changed in the security system and I've had no problem connecting lately.

Maybe your odds were a little high.

I myself would start off with a fresh install, then install the things you previously had 1 by 1. Once you get booted, the last installed item(s) would be the culprit.

i had this problem once using winquake.exe it braked me off the cax servers, and this was just before i knew anything about other clients, just like anything else it could be a glitch.. you suck too bad at everything to be haxn but if u are, i would get some new hax.

i personally like the hybrid vis/r00k.exe, I dont even need the pak files, that stuff is straight command line.
