      Clearly.

By the way -- Get rid of that dumb fucking sig at the bottom of your posts.

None of us give a shit about what linux distro you're running, and we all can very easily find out our own ip address if we want. We don't need you taking up a fourth of our screen with stupid shit every time you post.

That is kinda how I feel. Sometimes I want to go to a server, play and not otherwise interact. Hence, I started the topic.

Yeah, Baker, that's the biggest thing for me.

I completely understand why it was created, and the more I think about it, the more I think it's actually a useful tool.

Having more information is always a good thing, regardless of what you're referring to. The problem is that people get so caught up in uncovering who other players are. They get frustrated when they can't figure it out and start asking questions and firing off guesses. I just want to play, damnit. Leave me alone.

It's not the system itself that I find a problem, it's the people using it.

When we get a battery of lock and load, ready-to-serve mods in the library I think we'll probably have a ProQuake server engine that has been compiled with full IP masking (aka "private" appears as the IP) as an option for those running servers.

Those modified engines would not be able to do ProQuake cheat-free mode, unless we could get the ProQuake author to "cheat-free sign" them.

How hard is it to get a hold of those guys to have them "cheatfree'd?"

I don't know, but I do this GLX ProQuake Cheat-Free compatible was made available, and isn't available on the ProQuake site because it was a special request. So it is possible that this is something that could happen.

Something I forgot to mention ... mods can have the IP addresses masked on the QuakeC side, which doesn't require any changes to the ProQuake engine -- it's just a change in the QuakeC.

So any mod with the QuakeC source available (making CA+, as far as I know, an impossibility), this can be done without having a modified ProQuake on the server.

I'll have to check to see if this feature is already built into CRMOD.

Not happening. You can come down to Vancouver where we can meet and fight over it if you want. I don't like it when someone has a bigger mouth than mine. Since it pisses you off, it shall stay

I never said it pissed me off.

I said it was dumb and backed it up with an explanation.

                          Heh, flame warz are fun.

But seriously, anyone who has used the intenet or played online games for any length of time -- especially Quake -- has already been in a lot of them. After a while it isn't so interesting.

But everyone likes to read them in the forums. :d :d

Exactly, as a seasoned Quake1 player, I'm a battled hardened "flamewar" warrior.

Let's get back on topic (IPLogs)
