o rly? I seem to recall both of you yelling "leave you newb!". Very unwelcoming for a public server. As for stating the obvious, hellz that I knew it was your 2nd match

My point is I waited around 8 minutes watching other people play so I could join in and then you guys force me to leave. If you're going to act like that then go to runequake

It turned out ok in the end anyways because I rallied up a few quakers (Sole, Rocketguy, who else?) to play RA and more people joined up later on. Magnetar was there too.

This wasn't for the lack of trying. RQ, RQP, Deathmatch Plus and Painkeep Servers have all been tried but no one showed much interest.

      Kind regards

ok well I don't know how to do quotes the fancy way so here we go

"DM6 is "elite" for 1 on 1's, but the problem is that DM6 can be learned to almost a science where a veteran player can control the map without any hope of a competitor of even the slightest skill level difference having any chance of getting frags."

        FALSE

If you get some of the best dm6 players ever to play thier frags will be extremely close. You can control the level to a T if you like but that style is very weak and basically if you mess up your in some trouble plus theres the fact that no good player would let you get it. The only good player I have seen who actually tries to control the whole map is Amay and hes good but theres a difference in dm6 between good and great. If you get beaten without any hope of getting frags your not even slightly close to the same skill as the person who you are playing. I am personally very good at dm6 and I have beaten everyone I have played and I have also been beaten a lot at it. The best way to play dm6 is using tactics and getting inside your enemies head. If you don't believe me its because you are not a 1 on 1 player. If you get out controlled its because your outmatched on the level. Any actually good player will never be controlled in that level and that is why the level is so great for "elite" players to play because it is justa slight control and its mainly mind vs mind. Its like chess in a way. But that statement is completely false. It only applies when you are completely outmatched. If you get controlled to the point where theres no competition you are not even slightly good at 1 on 1. I tried to use a ga 100h reverse control to confuse and manipulate my opponent on dm6 and to this day I have probably tried it about 30 times. This should not work but it has never lost even when people had about 1/3 my ping. Comments like this are basically like me coming up with a new theory about how human beings started basing all my criteria on pure guesses because I have no background in that area.

I'm a pure FFA player/RA/CA type of player so my thoughts should be discounted. :d :d

Being that I like RA and CA so much, I'm not used to having to "earn my weapons".

Although, recently some battles on GCHQ, especially on ULTRAV, have really increased my desire for some 1 on 1's.

That being said, I'm getting more old skool in my Quake preferences.

(I learned my laser shafting still works at 130 ping! w00t!)

Damn, I must suck major ass. I have no hope of scoring against Tical in DM. The max frags I ever got on him was 4. and I think 3 of them were telefrags. w00t!!

either we got some sort of telepathic communication going on by telling you (yelling apparently) to leave at the same time or youre just making shit up. i encourage ppl to join servers and play and would never tell someone to leave. the fact that q1 players would call another q1 player a newbie befuddles me seeing as though this is now a 10 year old game and if you're new then you really missed the boat a while ago. simple fact i dont call ppl newbies and never told you to leave and look forward to ffa'ing later on

Electrici, I think Sniper was referring to what Magnetar said. From the times I've watched you and Hydro 1 on 1, I know you'd never do that.

I've seen Magnetar say things like "leave newb, 1 on 1".

Just because you only get like 3-4 frags vs tical does not mean you suck. Basically playing deathmatch is probably the best mod to build your overall skill in. But I know some very good players who never played dm and I would not expect them to do well at it either. Its like when I go play runequake I do OK but all the mods I play I own at. It might seem like people are camping and stuff in dm but its just control really. I am very good at dm6 1 on 1, ca and trinicom ctf as well as a dead mod of ctf called 3312. Personally I would say by far 1 on 1 in dm takes by far the most skill at a level and also causes far more drastic skill improvement in your overall game. I am also pretty good at dm3 tg because of the fact that I played so much dm3 on ca. When you play people who have played 1 on 1 dm6 or dm2 or dm4 your basically at a major disadvantage because they know how long it takes you to run from the last spot they saw you to the next spot they will see you. Plus since dm is based around control they expect certain moves based on when things will spawn etc. Anyways if you want to really improve how good you are there is absolutely no substitution for dm.

UltraV is an outstanding DM map, and I love to play that one.
