i actually love using the NG myself too
like it more then the SNG actually

i also like the design of the NG a lot more then the SNG. the SNG looks to much like some random gattling gun thing, while the NG looks like there was really put thought into the unique design and how it would work.
and the design of the SNG reminds me a bit of the chaingun of doom

although im a big fan of the SSG too
especially in combination with quad the SSG becomes epic
    .
are you curious about what all there is out there in terms of HD content for quake?

everything that is out there for quake and both mission-packs, compiled into one massive thread

^...Ah that gives me a Quake "fact"

I own many nail guns and they don't work unless the safety tip is depressed. You could modify it to where the safety tip is always depressed with something as simple as tape. I have done this and nails come flipping out of the "barrel". I also own a pellet gun that is capable of firing nails, even with it's rifled barrel nails come flipping out of it. Both guns are air guns. With my actual nail gun back charged with 200psi, a nail will fly about 50 feet (if you're lucky). It slows down dramatically as soon as it starts flipping. I have stood at random distances from various "targets" and fired nails at them, the nail has ricocheted off the target 99% of the time. The targets were almost always wood. I pegged a friend of mine in the back with a framing nail from about 20 feet away - he said it felt like someone plucked him and it didn't even break the skin.

Quake "fact": Quake nails defy the laws of physics by observation and the nail gun is not realistic to send the nails. Wheres the compressor? You would need a compressor the size of a mountain to fire that many nails without waiting for a recharge.

lol very much true gypsy. ive thought about the ng too a few times and indeed how it is its impossible.

also one other thing is that the nails would have to be special nails which have an arrow like head, cuz normal nails would indeed start flipping.

but yeah, the ng is indeed pretty much impossible, at least with normal nails it is. perhaps if it were like bullets which had a modified shape instead it might work though.

but then again... so much stuff in quake defies physics and defies logic
        .

Just to touch the bunny hopping subject, those who dislike it are those who cant do it. Its a skill. Most of these people who dont like it play offline mods majority of the time anyway, therefore i put their opinions in another level below multiplayer. Its like saying rocket jumping is useless also.

Not sure what type of nail gun you have, but the one i have is not even top of the line and it shoots more then 50 feet. I could stand in my garage and nail my shed which is every bit of 75-80 feet from my garage door. I have a 30gal ingersol-rand 170psi air compressor that can hit its capacity from 0 in under 1 1/2 minutes with its dual belt driven 22.5hp motor. I believe my airgun is a grex 650 23 gauge. I bought it new for about $320. Now as for it shooting straight or the 1 1/4 nails currently in it flipping i dont know, but it shoots far.

Yeah, I guess it would fire more than 50ft - you're firing something the equivalent of thin stiff wire. Fire one of these and tell me about your distance.

              my nails

              your nails

My nails are 3 times fatter than yours. Also, your nails have a practically non-existent head. The head of my nails is easily 3 times the diameter of the nail. I'm shooting a much heavier nail with a lot more resistance.

My 50 feet was a guesstimation. Most houses down here are 70ish feet long. After thinking about it in those terms, I'm sure my gun could fire at least the length of an average house.

I've worked with both types of nail gun ( finishing nailer / framing nailer )

The machinima "The Seal of Nehahra" tries to tell the story behind Quake which id Software never told. One of the protagonists, Phil, is told to fight the spawns of Shub Niggurath, like players would do when playing Quake in Single Player mode.

Some collection CD with the title "Ultimate Quake", containing several engines and addons, including Nehahra and its movie, also provides a video with "The LamerKatz Chronicles" about a Quake II multiplayer clan.

The developer of the PKZIP archive format and data compression software is Phil Katz.

I wonder if he ever played Quake...

The quake community dynamics have shifted since I was last around. Pretty fascinating flame war back in September. Piqued my curiosity.

The quake nailguns use Nine Inch Nails. Much longer than your 2 inch sheathing nails. The quake nailguns use explosive charges not air compressors.

Does using Nine Inch Nails bring you closer to God?

Did you know there was going to be a SuperLightningGun planned for slot 8?!

Did you know there is a conflict within the Lightning Damage code? Original QuakeC
The animation frames set it to update 30points damage, 5 times per ticrate.
but weapons.qc immediately changed it to 10 times per ticrate.

meaning someone hack weapons.qc in 1995 (devmode) and made the LG a factor or 6 seconds constant hit = death,
                                sounds reasonable ??

looks like a latenight deathmatch test left-over
