April 7th and 8th, 2012??

I was just reviewing web site statistics and on April 7th and 8th, 2012 the web site had almost double the amount of traffic. On average, the site receives between 1,000 and 1,100 visits a day. This has been basically steady the entire year.

On April 6th, the site received 1,741 visits.
On April 7th, the site received 2,353 visits.
On April 8th, the site received 2,416 visits.

The site was not linked to by some large web site on either of those days. In fact, referral traffic on those three days was actually down slightly compared to the site's normal referral traffic.

Does anyone remember if anything significant happened on those three days that caused a traffic spike?

No news postings that day. There was a post on April 1st, and the next one was April 14th.

hah interesting. I think I figured it out. That was Easter weekend. For whatever reason, the "Happy Easter" post that we made for 2011 was hit that weekend, mostly from search engine referrals.

If social networking of gamers was a game like Pipe Dreams, how do we bend the pipes to start flowing players our direction. In multiplayer I'm not sure if we have an easy way for newcomers to participate in a fun and addicting way at the moment (exposure without a product problem).

Need to bring back IHOC, was great for beginners, could join and just start spammin nades/rox, killin peeps etc., would be ez to get newcomers to try it out if we have a populated server.
