Hmmm, maybe there is a lack of confidence that I will finish. If so, I will be more than happy to introduce you to my clan and they can tell you about the absolutely retarded amount of things I have programmed for them. I think in the last 5 years I have programmed roughly 20 "apps". I even built my clan a clan branded media player that rivals early winamp. I assure you these big projects will come to fruition.

Take a step back and look at it from this perspective , you're elitist mind set has pretty much said this ; If you can't do this and this and this, then you suck and shouldn't be coding.

I like the idea of you (or anyone) improving this website, but its turning quickly into something besides "Let me show you what I can do" into something more along the lines of people critiquing other people before ANYONE has really put out some solid examples to look at. All you guys are bitching over is tossed around idea's and pre-testrun efforts.

A lot of posturing about ones capabilities or touting how good or shitty anyones idea is,as we are all working torwards the same goal. For anyone to assume that their idea is better than anyone elses AND will be the chosen final shift/transition into upgrading the website is really pushing what I would consider being big headed or ****y.

I pretty much have quit bothering with this, as I think those who are best suited for the job should be handling it, but at the same time you really have to acknowledge the fact that just because its needed doesn't mean we need to be working against each other or being so caught up in demanding the credit for everything thats being done, because thats clearly not doing any updates or upgrades to the site for the benifit of the community.

Make your product ; in the end, somewhere, for a fact, you would be credited if what you create is used. Bottom of the website is where you usually find this information when it pertains to websites.

So being hung up on the concept that until someone says "This is your project and blah blah blah" , yah bro, I don't get down with that attitude. I'd rather keep staring at shit brown colors than being force'd into kissing the ring attitude.Remember your not being employed, your donating your skills for the benefit of an entire community,not to stroke your ego and get praise. Those are secondary benefits and are given not to be expected or requested, and if they are your immediate reason for doing this then your gonna come off as being anything but someone donating their talent to a community.

Please understand I really wanna see what you got in the works and I'm anticipating seeing something new, but we're losing track of why its even happening.

I have chatted with Mark before on Ventrillo and I will tell you this ; It was very hard to understand his spoken english, and I understand why the typed english is sometimes broken. I'll go ahead and be the first to say these things, Mark is not your every day character like you or I.

Explain to me how I intend to make you kiss my ring or praise me now. That was some really stupid shit to say brah. I have worked so hard on what I have so far. I have gone over my code again and again and again because I know people that are better than me will have access to this code and I don't want to release something inadequate (nooby). I go through waves of being proud of my code to being ashamed of it and back. Every single solitary opinion here is something I am concerned and aware of. I have (had) a fire in me to make something really good for everyone that comes here. I do this because I really like this community and I want to contribute something unique. If this is a race, I forfeit. If I'm working on something that someone else intends to also build, then I'm not going to waste my time.

There's a saying: "Cooler heads will prevail", and I think that's what's needed here Just from reading this entire thread I think some miscommunication along the way has happened, unintentionally.

That coupled with language translation barriers and differing personalities and well... it's understandable. Maybe all of you could take a step back and chill for a while, and then try to regroup with a plan and how to go forward with this as a cohesive unit instead of combating each other.

I had a long talk with Mindz in private. MOM can have the banner project. That way you guys can have one lickety-split. It was also brought to my attention that this statement sounds like I am saying I am so good and if you aren't as good as me blah blah blah

need to be able to work knowledgeably with all of this:

CSS
HTML
Javascript
JQuery
SQL
JSON (maybe XML, haven't decided)

Let me be clear for anyone that thinks this. That list (if it was your only skill set) will not even guarantee you a real job as an IT. That's the most bare minimum skills to build anything on the net (except for maybe the javascript/jquery/JSON part, which even though that is 3 things, they are very related - they are all javascript).

I don't think that says that at all, but for anyone that reads it that way. I'm just trying to maintain control over my WIP and not have to worry abut "competing" projects popping up when I haven't even finished a beta.

I think I should have full rights to decide who I let help me with my code, it's my code. I should be able to decide the level of programming skills any helpers possess and I shouldn't have to "compete" with anyone, especially not someone that automagically pulls programming skills to get some kind of banner out of his hat AFTER I have already started the project that he had 2 years to start.

This has turned from something that I was excited to finish and share, into something I don't even want to talk about.

I liked Spiney's banners. However it would also be cool to feature some of the replacement models and textures made by the community, instead of just maps.

If I was going to make the banner, it was going to have the ability to feature any damn thing you can imagine, in banner format. Everything from simple static banner art, to dynamic animated content - with an entire content manager to make creating these banners very easy. I'm sorry that I can't finish that in 3 days. It certainly wasn't because of any lack of trying.

Hey man you just react to quick lol... I intend to have a new banner/logo while you make your project... it will be handled by hand... once a week or something like that.

Make your project like you want and if I can help you I will... what I want is to have something more dynamic here S00N AS POSSIBLE.

We can complete each other... what I'll do will be useful for the final result you need... cause you need a logo (new concept by preference) / banners / content (where the banners will refer) / etc.

So in conclusion you need us too

I said take a break and relax to let us have a chance to "help" and while trying it will very probably reorient your work... you need to listen not to work in the wrong direction (or for nothing or to redo this and that).

I'd like to count on you to make a 1st easy step for the banner as following:

People interested to promote their work should provide their banner with specific requierements which are 1864 X 250 X 16M (be awared the size is only 33.55 kB for the picture is strange).

A link to the relative content.

Banner are manually rotated once a week.

Banner = News update (next).

So if we consider 4 banners in a month that will also be the next news (once a month?!?).

This is easy until something better is done... I'm now on chase for banners and a new logo by WebAngel... we can also start with the original logo (with transparency on top of banners LEFT-TOP).


Disco let me know when you are available... will then have the occasion to try PicoPhone and do something... I guess 1-2 hours are enough to make it... I'll have a logo, 1-2 banners and the relative links... you should request the necessary priviledges to uploads the files, rename files and make minor modifications to the html code (just for the link).

The last thing I got to check/know is to separate the logo and the banner... the logo must "float" over the banner in the UPPER-LEFT CORNER... this will make it easy to make/update the new banners (no need to put the right logo to the right spot).
