I'm not saying it'll happen...however, I'm not so naive to say it couldn't happen, either. I just hope that should our wonderful UN or our oh-so-charismatic leader of the free world decide to take away our freedoms one by one, the majority of our citizenry won't just lay back and let them. Perhaps I'm hoping for too much, though.

I used to think "Yes, I would resist", I think now I would just renounce my citizenship. Not because "This is 'merica! 'mericans have guns!" but because that would signal a rapid change in the political and governing landscape.

Also, It makes me sick realizing my taxes go to this utterly corrupt nation and others...my money pays for other people to kill other people. Practically speaking, my money is hardly used, we just print and borrow to fuel our imperialism...I'm just tired of being a cog (although small) in the machine.

I've been thinking for applying for citizenship here for quite some time now...

Absolutely. I would refuse to give them anything. According to an article i read awhile back, if the U.N. disarmament bill passes to disarm U.S. Citizens, and the citizens refuse to cooperate, our military is "supposed" to shoot you dead on the spot and take your firearms. As usual people can come up with the bullshit all day long, but if someone comes to my house to disarm me, it will be a "no, and not just NO, but FUCK NO". I'll take a bullet to protect my Amendmants. Period.

well, there is a part in the constitution that says we can overthrow the goverment if it dosen't serve the people. trying to take away the guns sounds like a good excuse to "rebel".

Most people think the constitution is the highest law in the land.
This is in fact incorrect,Treaty is the highest and supersedes the constitution. The folks who are behind the push to disarm America have realized there is not enough money in the world to pay off congress on this one so they have found a new way to get around it.

I only hope that the military decides which they are more loyal to: their country, or the government controlling it.

Well it depends.. Do they obey lawful orders or unlawful orderes? Is our military against their families being protected? I hear law enforcement officers oppossing government control all the time, as i still speak to past comrades i worked with on a daily basis. Job or family values is whats going to bring out the difference, and i will take family values and family protection over a job and our tyrant government.

That was one of the things Hitler did... kind of scary to think of the implications of that.

Another problem in the USA is the amount of ethnic and cultural diversity. There's a lot more of that here, and those things clash on many levels at times.

MH: Sorry but I am offended by your statement a bit. It is something I see a lot of Europeans do. You do not live here, you do not know what it's like, and you can not compare it to where you are. So please don't. We do not presume to know what it's like to live where you do, or the local problems you have, I do not understand why Europeans in general think they KNOW what it's like to live in a crap area, or even not so crap area of the USA when the demographics of the country are completely different, not to mention the size of the countries are VASTLY different. Again the ethnic and cultural diversity issues, as well as the way the government and police operate here are again, completely different. To the police here, EVERYONE is a criminal, and the POLICE are generally a bunch of borderline criminals too. There is complete corruption on every level, and you have to learn to play the system to even get by. I see idiotic things everyday, real criminals don't get punished, and happenstance law breakers get punished severely. Also the majority of the prison systems are privately owned and operated by corporations, just like everything else here.

I get the idea the news which is broadcast in other countries is just as tainted as the news here... don't believe everything (or anything) you hear from the media, it's bent and twisted to provide entertainment and propaganda the same way it always has been...

                          </end rant>

Well put Roy. I agree with everything you said except the offended part. I can't get offended at the equivalent of a bird explaining to a fish what the rules underwater should be.

-"Some of us have learned to dive and we have explored your world."
                              ~"Is that so?"
-"Yes, from what we have observed your society is in decline. The larger of you devour the smaller of you and your numbers are less every year."
                              ~"You have counted us?"
-"Yes, we birds do a number of things when hovering about, pondering extinction and what-not. We have come up with a system that we believe you will conform to..."

He was a cunning bird, knowing all along that teaching the smaller fish to elude the larger fish would weaken the larger fish and render them vulnerable to the birds - creating more food for his species to multiply and gain power from.

                              ...

They would descend like piranhas from the sky and devour their target, usually working in groups of 5 or more. This was until the larger fish fell into extinction.

                              ...

The great grandson of the original cunning bird met with the smaller fishes to explain the sacrifices in which they were indebted. All these years the smaller fish grew in numbers while the birds eliminated their predators, now they were being told that they must sacrifice a portion of themselves in gratitude. "The birds must not be forced to starve after our great service!" one was heard declaring. "It's a tax!" a fish retorted.

stay tuned for part 2 of the exciting thriller... "Where Birds Can't Dive" or "Cthulhu To The Rescue"
