    well ya, some people are truckdrivers and images of crashes dont set well.

    i think the purpose of the pictures is to express how the thread has gone off subject or has completely gone off the rails. Instead of a crashed truck, it should be like a pic of an old truck in a junkyard.


    Back to the original idea of this thread, making a pretty modern Quake like QuakeLive. Well. I think thats pretty much what Seven did with his mod and darkplaces.
    I dont think quakelive is all that pretty, compared to battlefield 4. Quake has a niche look and we kinda should polish it but still keep it oldschool. Hell look how popular Mindcraft is!
    Bottom line, you cant please everyone.

          Unfortunately quake has this kind of playerbase because nobody seems to want to play a game thats almost 20 years old. Maybe quake needs a mod to make it more like Call of duty... on second thought, i deserve to be slapped for saying that.

          If i had more experience with QC i would like to make a weapon mod for quake that makes it more situational. And possibly more realistic. Id like to have some of the weapons that doom 3 has.

            Smart move. I should have never given mine out to anyone either. Unfortunately i use a block feature to stop email's i do not want. Mark aka MOM does send out Email's quite frequently.
            NO doubt! I signed up for Quake I Network, decided it wasn't for me and now I get a slew of "newsletters" from them with no unsubscribe link at the bottom. I went beyond spam filtering and told my client not to even acknowledge those mails, send them back. I don't recall even being asked if I wanted to receive the mail in the first place which makes me hate QIN even more... too fucking presumptuous. Like, I sign up and now it's a given that this is my favorite shit ever? It's not.

              FINE. You guys want a Free Multiplayer Qake? I'll bake you a Free Multiplayer Qake. But first the .plan:

              Dox's Team Fortress (Quake) model pak will be used, with the exception of the v_axe and v_spanner models. Those cannot be used because they use Quake assests (the hand) (and anything else that I see in it that came from Quake)

              I require creative license. Thus changes to Quake:
              1. Melee weapon should do more damage. 9 damage per swing is laughable.
              2. Shotgun becomes slug shotgun. Fires single bullet, 25 damage.
              3. Super Shotgun should do more damage, I suggest somewhere between 50-80.
              4. Nailgun is useless, so it should become hitscan machinegun. 15 damage per bullet. Also, nail packs give 50 and 100.
              5. Super Nailgun still fires nails. 30 damage per spike.
              6. Lightning gun should chain.
              7. Two old-new weapons: Laser Cannon (SoA) and Railgun.
              8. Announcer: multi-kill and Killing sprees.
              9. Powerups: Quad = Can with Whup-Ass on label, Invulnerable = Hockey Mask, Invisible = Higher poly gold ring with random runes on it, Biosuit = Nobody used it in DM, so make it Regen. Looks like a package of shrooms, put somebody Mario-esque on it for laughs.
              10. Frikbots will cover Single Player. I'm serious, that's all I'm putting in, because I have my own standalone game project, and I'm not going to drop everything that I'm doing for this.


              I need: A modeller who can stay with Dox's style to:
              1. Make a player model. Must conform to original Quake player.mdl frames. If you want some kind of vwep, make sure you tell him that I will need 9-10 different versions for each weapon.

              2. Make g_models for: v_axe (I'd suggest a wrench though), v_shot, v_shot2, v_nail, a new nailgun model for perforator (g and v), a new grenade launcher (g and v), a v_rock2, a new lightning gun (g and v), and a Laser Cannon (SoA-ish, g and v). I already have something for the Railgun.

              3. Powerup models.

              From that I will bake ONE free multiplayer qake, with ONE map that will be a from scratch remake of DM3, using whatever textures I feel like using that will comply with being "free". I reserve the right to name said map "The Remodelled Base", because I will be the one making it.

                I never even joined it and he sent me an email, because he found it on my profile listed under my instant messenger account. You can totally report the domain for spamming and get his IP blacklisted lol.

                  Beyond fair. I took two steps into "Make Things / Change Things" and a .LMP file whooped my feeble ass,and go figure its been around since Doom days. I have a understanding that playing a game =/= understanding the underpinnings that make the game tick.

                  BAKE A QAKE is catching on quicker than I thought,btw. I dig it!

                    @solecord...naaah. I like mom and understand this is just who he is, how he rolls. It's a little annoying but it's not really all that major. My spam filter thingy seems to be doing what I told it to so, basically problem solved.

                      you need a g_model for an axe?
                      i made an axe myself which you could use


                      and coincidentially i also just finished a shotgun model few days ago


                      and i happened to have made a low-poly version of it as well for fun

                      its 156polys, and uses a single low-res texture in the quake-pallette

                      .

                      and ive been thinking of making a double-barrel shotgun and one or two GL-models myself
                      the double-barrel ill be basing on this RL shotgun, and the GL either on this one or this one
                      or perhaps ill make em both. the small one would be perfect for an ogre, and the big one for player

                      .

                      .

                      as for powerups, i happen to have made a necronomicon-symbol (sigil of gateway) model at one point

                      (model is actually untextured but you can slap any texture you want on it. put this texture on it just to show)

                      EDIT: made a low-poly version of it for fun (296polys)

                        That Shotty looks really nice.
                        Do you draw your textures? Also, how do you ensure that your scale is correct?

                        I was thinking of using a big rectangle in the background(in Blender), textured with the real thing to get the scale right. In Milkshape I think you could just load an image in as your background in one of the views.

                        My vote would go for the M79.
                        Or M203 and just re-use one of the other models with it slung underneath.

                        I love the look of real wood grain, figured maple & walnut tops. nice.

                            thanx adam, glad you like the shotgun model


                            for textures i always just use google image-search to find a texture of the kinda material i need
                            and which is close to what i want, and then edit the texture to make it exactly how i want.


                            about scale:
                            yup thats exactly what i do!
                            i always find a perfect side-view pic of the item, and create a flat face in the background with that pic on it
                            here's for example pic of in blender with the pic i used as reference

                            in pic i posted earlier i had removed that face

                            and i also find some pics of the item at different angles and keep those open on my second screen while modelling so that i can see the scale of all parts

                            yeah ive been leaning mostly to the M79 since i like the simple bulky & oldschool-looking design of it.
                            it looks like it would totally fit right into quake with its wooden stock and big barrel
                            .
