Retarded Players
- |cD|-Phantom Knight
Hey Slick. Love the site and all that. But, I was just wondering if YOU know
why a lot of the players are so retarded. I admin the Lucifer's Flowers -
TK3 server, and I have to kick at least 3 people in one map. I have been
playing TFC for about 2 months. Yes, you can call me a newbie, but at least
I learned the concept of the game the first day. I mean, what provokes some
of you people to go in your own respawn and set down a detpak. That's just
retarded. Then, they complain because it is a Teak Kill server and they get
in trouble for killing your team. People, team kill doesn't mean to
intentionally kill your teammates. No, it just adds a little more realistic
environment to the game. Then, when you kick em out, they come back and do
it all over again. Kick em again, then they still come back. Then, ya ban
em. Somehow, they come back a lot later and apologize for what they did, and
then start over again. People, are your lives that boring that you have to
find some way into a place you are banned from? It must suck to be you.
Thank you Slick for letting me relay my message through you. Hopefully, it
will slap some sense into some of these retards' dense skulls.
Slick: Doing stuff like that is what they think is funny. I'll admit at one point in time I thought
it was hilarious to see a team-mate go flying from my detpack. But I quickly learned that while it may be
funny to you, it's annoying as hell for the other person.
TFC has the way it should be played (and most people do play it right) but there's no structure/penalty
for doing it wrong. -- That's why server admins have a kick function, I'm glad you use it. -- As I was
saying, people do it wrong because they haven't had the rewards of doing it right. TF2 has many goal systems
and rewards for playing as a team and playing the game correctly, I think we'll see a vast improvement in
players and how they play with each other. Valve has watched this closely, and does care, so I'm interested
in how well it will work.
The Red Flag
- [=1=]TNT[FR]
In a recent flame mail (hee hee) from
[AtX]Timber_Wolf, he mentioned a claymation "movie"
called The Red Flag. I assume that this is something
that can be downloaded. My question is... WHERE can I
download this?
Slick: The Red Flag is a sweet claymation
video done up by tigerbean productions. -- There currently is a sequal in the works (Red Flag "Havoc")
I don't know when that will be out. But it's sure to kick ass! (after looking around a bit, there are
some promo shots, be sure to check those out!)
editing the configuration of half life
- James
Hello:
I had read somewhere (perhaps on your site) that you can edit the
configuration of halflife--like turning off the animations, etc.
There was a web page that let you select if you wanted animations, to see
the weapons, etc. and then generated a cfg file or something. Have any
idea as to the identity of that site?
Slick: This can all be edited in Half-Life by going to the custimize and settings menus (depending
on what you wanted to change).
I personally don't know of the site that you describe, but if someone does.. Hit the mailbag with it
and we'll get it posted next week.
MultiColor Spraypaints
- ^*MIA*^RoadDukk
Hi, first of all, great site! Second, i was in a TFC server last night and
one of the admins of the server was spraying his clans logo, but this was new
to me, the logo was multicolored!!!! I asked him how he did it but he would
not tell me. I was wondering if you could tell me how he did this and how i
can acomplish this?
Slick: Link!~~@#~!
PF Mailbag - TF Intro song
- [TFT]DeepThought-TPF-
Just like the guy in the mailbag,I wanted to get that song from the TF Intro.
Unable to locate what it was,I sent Robin Walker an email, and five minutes
later he replied that it was from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana.
Slick: Well, there you have it folks. Now go put in it (and get it off) napster!
Also on the same topic, Shaun said that the file name is called ORFF.wav
@#*&! windows key disable?
- Hanover Fist
Slick,
You wouldn't happen to know of any way to disable the "windows key" other that prying it off with a screwdriver? Or possible re-establishing sound if you accidently boot out of the game?
Slick: I don't know personally of a way to disable that key, but I wouldn't mind it myself. -- One
thing I would suggest trying to bind it in the in game config (though that may just boot you out anyway)
My nice keyboard doesn't even have a windows key so I don't worry about it too much.. But it still wouldn't
be bad for people to know. So if you've got a way, hit the mailbag with the 'how-to'
Vote
- robert
I have been trying to use this program called vote manager.
in the game when you join you start out in a big room and theres doors that
leads to different maps..the idea is to shoot at the doors breaking them
down and the more players shooting on one door wins and then that map
loads..
well i made it all the way to using the vote map compile program and it says
it makes a vote.bsp in your tfc/maps directory but instead i get a VOTE.ENT
with lots of map data on it???
what is it?? an entity? does it need to be compiled with worldcraft?? i
didnt see that option??
the site where i got this program>>>>>

Slick: Vote is a sweet map, make sure you have both the map manager and the vote map (get them both
here. There is a .html readme that kicks ass and
explains how to use the mapmanager properly (and will answer your question). Just look in the dir for it.

Console
Ok, to finish off the console questions. There are two simple ways to fix this problem. (Do both just
to be sure your getting what is hindering you)
Go to your tfc shortcut: (if you use a program such as gamespy, you'll have to change the .exe command
line as well, or just point it to the desktop shortcut) rightclick, --> click on properties and add -console to the command line (in the 'target' feild).
Open your config.cfg in /half-life/tfc/ and either find the command console "0" and change that to console "1" or if you can't find it, just add console "1" at the very
end of the config since it gets executed from top to bottom.
Glide2x.dll
Thanks to all of you who send the .dll, it was just what I needed (no idea how I lost that file).
Logo
I've got one logo idea of mine that I'm really getting into. However any ideas are still welcome. Meantime
a happy reader named KennyBaby did up our PF 'Link' button
Into a spraypaint logo. -- Get the file right
here. Here's the how to install as well:
How to Install the Logos:
Copy PLDECAL.WAD, and go to your Half-Life folder (for instance C:\SIERRA\HALF-LIFE). From that folder, go to the folder of the Half-Life type in which you want to use your spray paint picture (in the case of Counter-Strike this is the CSTRIKE folder, in the case of Team Fortress this is the TFC folder, and in the case of standard Half-Life this is the VALVE folder). Now paste the PLDECAL.WAD file you've just copied in this folder. You're ready to use the spraypaint picture now!
2 more things:
1) DON'T click on OK or Cancel in Customize in the Half-Life menu. Exit Customize by pressing the Escape key. If you do click OK or Cancel, your old spray paint picture will be made again. If this does happen accidentally, then place your own PLDECAL.WAD back in the folder where you placed it before (so for instance the CSTRIKE, TFC or VALVE folder).
2) If you want to spray your spray paint picture in the game, and instead of your own picture a completely different picture appears (like a Hostage Rescue Point in Counter-Strike), don't panic, because it takes a while before your picture is uploaded to the server and is downloaded by yourself. As soon as this has happened, your picture will work just fine (That is, if you've followed all of the steps above here correctly).
There you have it. Now, I expect that these buttons will be all over the servers until the official logo
comes out! :)
