Also, a useful tip is to _use_ the enemy resupply rooms. Its really easy
in 2fort4 since the upper supply room stays open for so long. And in 2fort5
you can either follow someone out, or hang out by the exit and run in just
as someone else runs out. You have to be careful on 2fort5 tho, since the
doors will sometimes close on you... and do too much damage.

If a sentry gun can see you, and you feign, it will keep shooting and missing
you. So if you're out of grenades and there's nobody around, you can whip
out the double barrel, shoot the sentry, feign, change colors, un-feign,
and repeat the process. Just be sure you don't do it right in front of a
wall, because you'll take radius damage from exploding rockets. Good in
2fort4 to keep engineers away from sentries that they put right next to
the flag. Just feign and it will keep shooting, nailing anybody who goes
down the corridor (usually the engineer who built the gun).

If your playing tf on the map Unholy Kingdoms by Dyermaker a good tip is
to go to the enemy sniper tower disguised as an engineer. If theres a sniper
when you first get up there ( very unlikely ) , feed him a few ludes while
strafing then knife him in the back or on top of him. Then stay up there
for a while. The hole when you look down on the lower sniper deck, count
to 2 slowly then chuck a grenade into the entrance to make ppl dizzy as
they go out. Then if there are any sentries around do the same as above
but with regular grenades. Any snipers shoot them in the head with a lude
then with your nailgun or Mac10 shoot his head a bunch of times and then
he'll go "WTF!?!?!", now all you do is shoot ppl with lueds as they walk
out of the base. It's fun but some ppl might call ya campers :)

In Well6, make your way up to the room of the enemy fort (or yours if it's
being completely overrun). You'll find the area with backpacks and a hole
in the roof. This is the most evil thing you can possible do to your enemies.
Grab all four packs and then drop 4 gas bombs on different parts of the
lobby below. Then repeat. When they start getting the idea and come up after
you, feign and wait for them to pass. Then do it again. Even if it doesn't
skyrocket your frag count, it'll drive the enemies out of their lobby. On
a no-friendly-fire game, you can have your allies attack as well. It'll
screw up their vision, but just so they shoot everything they see, it isn't
a problem.Eventually, they'll drive you out. So pay them back by becoming
a scout and running in while they're out counter attacking youOf course,
on Friendly fire games, this technique isn't that productive. However, it
is nice to always gas the doors leading to the respawns.

What do you call a spy who's been caught off guard? Dead, unless you can
think fast. Most TFC servers have footsteps enabled, so turn your volume
up to max and be listening for someone coming up behind. If you here a shotgun
being reloaded, get away, but don't act like you're running for your life.
Head towards the area where someone of your class should be. And if footsteps
aren't enabled, then remember to keep a constant check on your surroundings.
Don't stand still and face the door of your oponents spawn room, put your
back to the wall and watch. Never let the other guy see your back, unless
he's a corpse.

I've noticed a LOT of spies on both sides go charging off the sniper deck
(2fort) and into the enemy base while disguising. That is a very bad idea.
If the enemy sees a spy coming in they will all go around shooting each
other, while this proves helpful it also tends to get you blown up. So what
you do is disguise BEFORE you go charging into the enemy base, and I mean
change your skin not your color, a red running back into the red base tends
to be shot.
Never, and I mean NEVER go in as a class the enemy only has one of. I was
being a HW once, and the enemy spy ran right up to me and it showed my name,
which is a dead giveaway that the player is a spy. Also it's best to pick
a skin of the enemy team that's on defense.

When you have to do battle with a hwguy, while running at him and strafing
from side to side, try to tranq him once (this is not always neccessary,
but does make it easier to sink you're knife in his back). Then get right
in his face, and switch immediatly to the knife. While he's wondering what's
going on and using up alot of ammo, try to "strafe" around him to his backside,
and swing that knife into him. He usually can't get more than a few shells
into you, and you'll be taking chunks out of his back in the meantime. The
key to this technique is to wait 'till you're behind him to sink the knife
- takes no more than two strikes to kill him, and usually only one. Using
this method, I can easily kill most hwguys, and take very little damage
in the process.

- For all you newer spies out there, heres a tip on avoidance of getting killed
once your found out. Most of the time spies that have been found out normally
resort to what they instinctivly do when in trouble. They fight. In deathmatch
what do you do when someone shoots you? You go and kill them right? However
in TFC you have more to take into consideration than savagery. Speed, Armor,
Weaponry are all things to take into consideration. Lets look at two examples.
Ok, say your a scout (just bear with me) and a HWG walks around the corner...do
you try and fight him? No. A good scout would get the hell out of there utilizing
his speed. The HWguy is slow and powerful and the scout is fast and weak.
Now the spy is hardly any stronger than the scout and fighting an HWG in a
gun to gun fight is sheer idiocy right? Then why the hell do I see people
ALWAYS doing it? Now this leads to the actual tip. Using speed and maneuvereability(spellings
bad -- I am on vacation) is a KEY to keeping your ass from looking like a
fresh block of swiss cheese. Take a map such as the well. This map is full
of oportunities for taking advantage of your mobility in comparison to autocannon
toting rocket launching fragapheliacs with body armor -- from hell. Say your
caught just outside the door to the enemy base. Open the door and run in but
do not run away when he comes in after you run back out...backwards - Jump
into the water...backwards - Swim under the bridge...backwards and then flip
180 and jump out of the water. Head back the direction you swam but on land.
Jump back in the water. Hop out right behind the SOB from hell and run past
him up the ladder. He will usually go under the ladder and give you an Enima
- but with bullets or give you a complimentary ride to mars on a brand new
S.O.L Rocket. So instead jump away from the ladder and grasp back on aft!
er the rocket or bullet goes up. If you think your good prime a grenade so
you can jump down drop it on his feet and run. Its impossible -- but doable
:) This is just on of a million things you can do to save your ass. The point
of it is to keep the enemy chasing and confused to the point where he falls
so far behind that its not worth it. Its kind of like those math things you
learned in Jr. High; If one train is moving 90 mph and the other at 50. In
one minute how far will each train go? Same thing applies. Make him chase
until hes out of range. If you were to say just run away and go through the
barracade in the middle of the map. He could just send 4 rockets towards the
door your heading for and its all over. However if he has no idea what your
doing .. and you do (important -- some people actually dont!) you have the
upper hand.

- Just a revenge tactic. Every spy -hates- that cocky engineer who is always
detecting you and standing on your corpse when you are feigning, leisurely
taking his time, hitting you with his wrench now and again, and taking many
minutes to finish you off. Some engineers (and other classes) love to do this...
I've had engineers stand on me for more than five minutes at times. What can
you do once he gets on top of you? Well, not much... but if you know that
this engineer does this often, I have a little revenge ploy to help you guys.
"Bait" the engineer by running conspicuously into his view and wait for him
to ID you. When he does and starts giving chase, firing, prime a grenade and
then, right in front of his eyes, feign death while STILL HOLDING ONTO THE
GRENADE. In TFC, you will not drop the grenade but continue holding it even
when you are feigning. Cocky engie will then proceed to step on top of you
and do his usual bit... and when the grenade you are holding explodes, will
promptly be blown to smithereens! :) Sure, it kills you too, but this can
actually help you... do this to one of these obnoxious opponents a few times
and they start getting wary of pulling that "stand on you" trick. Every little
bit helps.

- An TFC 2fort tip, and this one is going to be so stupid that you are going
to wonder how it works. The typical deal with a spy is that you get into the
enemy basement, steal the flag, and begin to run up the enemy spiral. Of course,
waiting for yoiu at the top is a demo man/hwguy/soldier, etc. who has heard
the "The enemy team has stolen your flag" warning begins shooting you into
oblivion on sight. Want to know how you can get past this guy? Simple, although
not infallible. Run up to the top of the spiral and see if there is anyone
waiting for you. If there is, quickly run back down to the bottom of the spiral.
At the bottom of the spiral, just after you pass through the doorway to the
basement, quickly turn right to hide in the corner right next to the doorway.
Keep in mind that this is the corner that is FARTHEST AWAY FROM the flagroom
and is a "blind spot" for enemies who are running through the doorway chasing
you. Now duck and wait. More often than not, whoever follows you down (and
they will... TFC players, once they see you are a spy, will figure you an
easy kill) will think that you headed in the direction of the flag room or
the elevator shaft to hide and pass -right by you-. All the while you are
holding the flag! I know this sounds stupid, but it works time and time again.
Just don't do it too much. Like any spy trick, enemies catch on.
