Rivalries Between Players And Clans. How can we do?

I only play very occasionally, so I can't really join into the clan conversation. One thing I have noticed though, is that every time I have wanted to play a bit of DM, I check here and every single server is empty.

right. i think we all want the same thing here. a larger, higher-quality and most importantly a steady and consistent quake 1 multiplayer community. demo-worthy clan matches and everything else that we all nostalgically reminisce about.

since we have a minute number of players to kick start this endeavor, it's in all of our best interest to stop acting like kids and banning for over stupid shit, or doing shit deserving to be banned. for the most part, most of us old school players are fully-grown adults. lets act like it.

and this isn't directed towards anyone specifically, but there are a lot of us that could work on improving our level of maturity. if nothing else, at-least suspend your immaturity long enough to get the scene built back up.

This is something we have to work on.

For place with so many servers, we have so few of them setup properly to facilitate "easy action".

/Off to get beer and make GL ProQuake 4.60 with colored deadbodies support and single pass video mode setup, while hammer out "auto-update stats 1.0".

You know what's even funnier? 95% of the people (like yourself) who regularly post on this site don't even play this game, and here we are in a thread about how to revitalize Quake.

I do play...in fact i actually use my name and not a alias...go figure. I just don't play dm. I do however get what your saying, i agree many people who post dont play, but i am not in that 95% you speak of. Why do you hide who you are in game?

I think with a stats thing for the new DM server, a good suggestion of where to put top stats is by replacing the quaketx twitter feed as it seems useless. Just a suggestion.

It would definitley serve more use then the dm1 twitter feed. But you also know i could care less about dm, but not to be a hater, yes that would be better.

Striker, Wolv.. I deleted all your back and forth senseless argument. Here we are in a very positive thread about trying to revive whats left and you're both absolutely shittin all over someone's ideal no matter how punitive the effort may be given the circumstance.

Wolv, you're one of the more skilled players in quake in the last 5 6 years now to come along, I think you have a responsibility just like wicked to improve this community. It's far better than having a cancerous attitude. In fact, there is this entire culture created in DM that reeks of elitism, and we push people out that way. I'm guilty my self for telling newbs to go elsewhere when I'm playing, but I've totally changed my perspective on this. I understand now that I find it much more fulfilling to see a full server than an empty one; it's this superiority complex among better players that's alienated new people trying to learn and has harboured a destructive Quake community.

Over the years, I've seen you argue with so many people on here wolv that I don't think you realize there is no winning such battles. I think it would be cooler if you acted like a veteran in quake and helped other people along. People may think I'm an arrogant douche and that's fine, but I always took time out to play 1v1s vs worse players and I did a lot of training sessions with different people trying to help them get better. My point is, we can continue to act like we're the only ones left and the game is dead and therefore act cynical, or we can treat this as a tight knit community and help each other out, god knows there are only so many of us left.

I run servers to expand playability and enjoy a host of talent on server, but its hard to pass up a bad apple without me picking it up and putting it in the trash.

I concur with Rev's and your opinion Rampage. I'll skip the details of the last time I asked KillingTime (kt) to be a ambassador of goodwill between Wolv and Myself. I'll offer again right now, bygones brah? I am 100% positive of our capabilities to squash the bullshit. I've patched up worse issues with other players, and the 'thing we keep doing' just isn't fun.

It's bad for the community, no matter how you slice or dice it.

This looks all good for a fresh start without all the rage posts and ego trauma we have come to expect from these Clash of the Titans.
What I am wondering is if it's actually true?If this is an honest effort then I would expect that all bans are removed?
