Hey, thanks for your help guys - the problem was that I was compiling the 1.90 source instead of 1.6. It was late and I was tired - hadn't dealt with it until yesterday when I re-read the topic about 1.6. Checked and I had downloaded 1.9.

Anyway, compile went fine and quake launches successfully. I noticed that it is ever so slightly choppy when I move around(singleplayer and multiplayer). I also notice that when using show_fps 1, Framerate stays at a solid 72. When I do a timedemo, I get somewhere in the 800 range. I searched around the qrack commands and couldn't seem to find a way (as with pq_maxfps) to increase this. I'm not sure the choppiness can be attributed to the 72 fps. It's more like a very quick stuttering. Any ideas?

      vid_vsync 0
      cl_maxfps 200 (etc)

cvarlist shows more console variables, and cmdlist shows commands list

Actually though, Qrack is lacking in the linux department but a suitable replacement would be Quore http://quore.free.fr/

I think the stuttering is mouse accel related
also it acts choppy until you join a map for some reason.

I am now running the OSS4 sound drivers on lucid. 10.04
        Sound works fine for now.

I think you have to actually cd into the dir and exec from there.
Otherwise you will need to make an installer like we did earlier in this thread.
Phen may still have the deb if you are lucky, but I built it under Lucid so IDK if it will work for you.

Check your permissions and see that it has exec rites.
Here is a link for a bash sript to set up the sound and execute the client on Karmic.

Also XQF is a nice gui for qstat that makes most of this redundant

The original download link was broken, I've pointed the new download link in the guide to Quakeone.com's file section where you can download the Qrack 1.60.1 source code.
