Patience, my friend.

I am currently in the middle of working on things that from some outside perspectives would not be immediately appreciated.

But when completed, will accelerate the development of the engines I am working on tremendously.

Ironically, today I have been dealt a frustrating setback ... my laptop with a ton of R&D and experimental engine stuffs fell off a stand today -- I don't know if it is going to work again. I am not certain that I will be able to recover the data off it.

For about 3 minutes, I felt like crying in my oatmeal. Not that I eat oatmeal. Oatmeal is kind of nasty, but surely that's beside the point. And don't call me Shirley.

I deal with bad news and setbacks very well. "Bad" is a determination, subject to perception. Perception is a determination controlled by the mind. You can't know something is "bad", and even if you could it is probably written into the script.

But I choose the script. And the script says this setback is just plot drama to heighten the suspense and build up anticipation. I control the horizontal, I control the vertical. And even the Universe itself cannot stop fate. But it doesn't mean it can't try ...

[If there were more stubborn asshats like me, the world would have far fewer problems. Today my laptop with a lot of my recent stuff got damaged and I'm just casually writing it off in my head what is a frustrating loss. But real good stuff is in my head, so be it. Anyone who writes code loses stuff from time to time, you just have to deal with it. And I will.]

I am sorry for your loss - hopefully you will be able to recover most of your stuff without much hassle.

You are right - it is often said what one carries in their head, it can never be taken away - because you always have it.

As it turns out, no loss at all. I had some initial problems and then managed to get it to boot. Of course the first thing I did was back up whole hard drive.

Also, I lost a few hours of intense mapping yesterday due to a radiant/gtk misalignment. Radiant doesn't get along well with the newer version of gtk I have installed, so it pops up a runtime error every time it tries to autosave (every 5 minutes). If I foolishly hit Enter or Space right after that pops up, the editor crashes. I have to be alert and click "No" (not the default button).

I could disable autosave or simply fix that in the source, but I'm too busy mapping. Hm.

Oh well, I redid the stuff pretty quickly... deadline is loooOOOOOMING!!!

Any updates or new developments regarding this client?

Not yet but I think about it every day. I have had precious little time the last 5-6 weeks, but when things "thaw" (a reference to how damn arctic cold it is in Ohio right now) a bit and I get some time it is gonna happen.

[If someone told me in October I would have got in an update out in 3 months, I never would have believed it. Needless to say, my free time has not nearly been what I had hoped in recent months.]

We all get those times where our free time drops for extended periods of time - don't rush yourself.
As for your "damn arctic cold" - hey now I am in SASKATCHEWAN CANADA lol - last week we had -42 celcius, which is -43.6 fahreinheit that was with the windchill though was actually -29c/-20.2f

I had hoped for a new release but on the other hand I don't have time to play (let alone make maps) myself atm. Happens, don't worry Baker.

@ooppee: I hope -42�C is a typo (but I guess I wouldn't leave the house if it was -24�C either). It's around 0�C / 32�F here atm and I'd say even that pretty much sucks.

Alright - just checking, thanks for the update.

Incidentally, there are freezing temperatures all over US - even the summers seem cooler to me - it may be related to some atmospheric variables.

I've also seen on the news some cars being iced over, never seen that before - but it is very cold.
