  • Phantastic job, just tried this on my Linux boxen using wine. Awesome, awesome job on the textures as well (I have the Quake Reforged Project skins installed too).
And well chosen defaults for the visuals for my taste.

    • I prefer cl_hudstyle 0, but can't stand the black bar it comes with...

      • Some bugs I found:

*The menu still doesn't work right. I was in the advanced settings menu trying to enable direct input mouse, and my HUD size was changing...

*If I'm looking all the way down at the ground, I can't turn. My screen just shakes back and forth.

*When I get shot, I can't even tell I'm being shot at half the time. I just lose health... my guy doesn't yell, I don't see blood, my screen doesn't flash or shake... I just lose health.

        • Regarding the mouse issue... I had the same problem in DP, then monster had me add this in my autoexec:

          Code:
          in_pitch_min -69.60937118530272726999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
          in_pitch_max 79.45312118530272726999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
Does this have any relevance to Engine X? It stopped the mouse issue in DP.

          • We are still waiting for Baker to address these issues.

I am patiently awaiting his next release which would fix all the fore-mentioned bugs plus some new features he
            has mentioned.

            Regards.

Both engineX and DP use rounding to nearest integer when reading/writing player's angles. The ProQuake server doesnt round angle at all so sometimes it will glitch. Your min/max basically compensates for the rounding issue when looking at the max extents. Neat!

Edit config.cfg and change the bind F10 quit line to:
                    bind F10 "menu_main;togglemenu;toggleconsole;quit"

This will open the main menu and turn it off to ensure no menus will be active, and then it will activate the console before calling the quit command, so the quit command won't ask for confirmation.

                    • HEY GUYS!

quick question here? how can I add the music to the game? I tried the directQ AND Darkplaces methods (the id1/music/ and id1/sound/cdtracks) but nothing happened... maybe they have to be in 0gg format?

                      thanks in advance!

BTW it's an awesome engine and can't wait for the new camera angles and the other features

                      • So nobody knows how to put music on engineX? :s

                        • Maybe put the track names in the format you would find on a CD?
                          IE "01 Track 1.mp3".

I did that with the original Quake soundtrack as mp3's using the original filenames and in the folder "QUAKE/ID1/sound/cdtracks" or something and it works perfectly for me in all of the ports I have.

                          • quake\id1\music\track00.mp3
                            quake\id1\music\track01.mp3
                            etc.

                            Or quake\<gamedir>\music\track00.mp3
                            quake\<gamedir>\music\track01.mp3
