TUT: Creating Rain + Snow + Fog in DarkPlaces

  • I found weather was something they wanted to try as it does greatly add to the atmosphere - but wasn't possible to add into the game due to the tech just being born. Snow, not suiting HOWEVER making simple retextures - you can easily make that work.
    I myself am using a combination of the rain/fog/both.

            I never thought about reversing the "dest" values.

            I just played with it more and like this one. Please try it:

            The quantity and velocity are much reduced and the "ashes" color is darker (more reddish).
            I could not find the color value for black...

            This is a keeper !!

                      the issue with the too dark screenshots is what many people encounter
                      Screenshots should always be edited before uploading it in a forum.
                      In most of the cases they are much too dark, because the games brightness setting is totally different to the monitors brightness.


                      Now back to your question:
                      You downloaded the .ent pack from post#2, right ?
                      Now simply open the e1m7.ent file and add the code from webangel�s or from my above post (replacing the 1 or 2 blocks which are in my .ent files).
                      Save it, start DP and load map e1m7.
                      You will then see the "ash" effect. Be brave and try it You cannot damage anything.
