    thanx to the great tutorial i found some time ago on how to rig a bow i without much trouble managed to rig the crossbow so it can be animated easily
    .

        yeah that one is the original low-poly crossbow model

        also.... big news!

        the 'Buryza-do Kyanon' is done

        ive also included the arrow pick-up for it, and ive also made the projectile.
        it also includes the arrows enemies shoot because they use the same model

        in other news....
        wont ya look at what i came across earlier when i was playing hexen2 for fun:

        the exact same chest which is used in Nsoe, meaning this model is also from hexen2.
        so ive fixed it up to be usable with FTEQW! find post about it in hexen2 thread here:

        also, ive revisited my hud sword that i made cuz i wasnt satisfied with the animation of it,
        it wasnt correctly positioned and it didnt look like the hand was really holding it cuz of that.
        so ive completely re-did the animation of sword from scratch


        last time i first removed the axe from the hand and then put the sword in it with each frame,
        this time i didnt remove the axe first and used the axe as guide for the position and rotation of the sword,
        and the position of the sword looks much better now during the animations

        EDIT: noticed i accidentially had old texture included for arm, fixed it so pk3 includes correct texture for arm

        • just revisited the rejuvinators, cuz the "fake shadowing" i added didnt look very good at all, and made them look cartoony rather then real.
          since i learned how to bake AO-maps since then i thought id instead bake an AO-map for them for realistic shading

          the result:

          they instantly look much more real then before

          think ill be re-visiting the end-bane and twin-shot/equalizer as well and bake AO-maps for them,
          cuz it looks a million times better then my "fake shading"

            • and lastly, the twinshot/equalizer has been updated with AO-maps

              also, the texture is now more hi-res. source-texture was 2500pixels, and before for old version i downscaled it to 1024. now i instead made texture be 2048x2048

                        quite proud of it since its first time i ever really did a serious animation for a model,
                        at least in the sense of it being a 'real animation' rather then just position/scale/rotation of the entire model

                        and the animation came out really well imo
                        .

                        • just had a look at the twinshot/NSOE equalizer again, cuz the shading was a bit to soft.
                          so i played around with editing the brightness and contrast of AO-map a bit to get more obvious shadows on the model

                          right one is new version with more obvious slightly darker shading

                          • lil something i decided to do since its a simple model and i been thinking of doing it for a while:
                            the barrel




                            this is another item which was obviously inspired by heretic


                            since a basic barrel is such a simple model
                            the model itself is already done, and its UV-mapped too

                            so all thats left is baking AO-map for it and then making textures for it

                            .

                            for the rings on it i decided to go for realism rather then a 1:1 copy of the original item.

                            real barrels never have a single ring along the center of the barrel,
                            so instead of 1 ring along center i made it have one ring some distance above and another ring some distance below the center,
                            which is what real barrels also have

                              cant think of any other instance where its used at all other then that

                              • looks like all it needs now is a old #7 logo! lol i never understood why there were exploding radioactive barrels in base maps but a whiskey barrel i get that the orges look like there drunks grate work whats next on the list?
