            • just tried it in-game, and its great ruohis, looks super, and no more bugs.

              he makes a great addition to the other grunts i use

                  I somehow have overseen your soldier model. The fact that you worked on the soldier and player model around the same time somehow confused me.

                  After testing the solder (grunt) in-game, I would like to Thank you very much for another great monster replacement.

                  With your work alone, we have 90% of all Quake models.

                  • Hey guys,

                    Just found this thread while googling something else and... Wow... Just. WOW.

                    Awesome models, Ruohis. Loved specially the tarbaby, the fish, the scrag and shub. I'd say they're the best replacements I found in all those years. Some can use some work in the skins and shaders, but the meshes and animations are awesome as is.

                    Some opinions and ideas on the other models:

                    The fiend looks too bulky. The original was more sleek, like something that can run and jump towards you really fast. The legs specially should look more gaunt, like a deer, elk or even an moose.

                    The enforcer OTOH is a bit bulkier - specially the chest plate.

                    The soldier mesh is great, could use some additional work on the skin to look more like an reanimated corpse. I'd suggest to try to make the portions where the skin is apparent to look more like something starting to decompose, maybe with bones already exposed by wounds in some areas like the wrists (check the original model texture to see what I mean).

                    The important thing about the zombie is... It's something that died a long time ago and just forgot to lay down to rot . Rotten meat, a mix of pink and greenish ruptured skin covered in dry blood on the festered wounds, exposed ribs, opaque eyes (or even just the empty, dry socket), a long missing jaw.

                    I liked your original idea of claws/spears popping from the legs in the vore model. And someone else pointed an important thing about Quake models: they're loosely based on lovecraftian monsters, hence the missing mouths and eyes. It's the this kind of detail that turn them more disturbing.

                    Finally, about chthon... TBH I think is better to restart from scratch.
