I think only having 1 active mod has its disadvantages, its quite a burden / workload on this site, and while I commend GB for going above and beyond the call of duty, there are some times working while overloaded means you overlook something and might come off the wrong way and get people mad.

This site also has me (Slightly more than just a MOD... but whatever).

In my personal opinion I know the improper way to moderate is to deal with situations where it may cause an uproar and or escalate a situation or to use your power to moderate what you don't like to see.

If I "stab at someone on these forums" I should expect to get "stabbed back". I don't use "status" here as a shield. Other wise I'd have banned Wicked_Lord in our first conversation together.

we're dealing with real people who have real lives which are so different then our own that we may forget sometimes that people have alternative views on everything, that doesn't make them stupid, it makes them unique.

I personally do not care if you post "What I ate today" posts as long as they're in the proper forum section or "This is what upsets me" posts... as long as it's in the proper forum section(get the point?).

Some people should not be moderators. They may make fantastic programmers, modders, mappers and such but some people simply do not know how to handle the mentality/culture/mindset of other people.

Walking around with the "ban hammer" slamming it into their hand to distil superiority/fear into my surrounding fellow QuakeOne.com members is the improper way to be a mod here.

QuakeOne.com (Quake 1 Resurrection) is not a normal forum, it is a forum that welcomes diversity on both ends from many different aspects, from many different skill fields which all ties into one main conduit which is what the world sees QuakeOne.com as.

Example: In the physical world we have police officers and not everyone is a cop. Cops are only effective if they A.Are notified of a disturbance and B.Are effective at their job. Is the amount of things that slip under their radar really their fault? If so maybe we need mandatory door to door checks weekly to make sure everyone doesn't cheat the system and the cops doing their job can do it effectively.... Maybe we should speak up more with our problems to those who can really do something about it.

True structure and order only comes from more rules and how many rules do we need? There will always be someone who comes along and pee's in the pool, mouths off, has a different view, says something completely absurd, brings light to a problem or gives help selflessly.

An argument must be between 2 or more people (or one crazy person), the argument should never be be between a member and a "nother member with mod status". Mods should know better then to get into an argument that "forces them" to use their status. My motto on being a admin/mod is "Lead by example" and I'll always run the personal offensiveness I have coming at me against the rules for the establishment for which I "swear in" and trade my personal judgment and use the "Law of the jungle".

Differences in opinions, stand. Blatant threats, or attacking other people enters the realm of abuse.
Abuse isnt tolerated, people get banned.

If why you are here is to make a name for yourself and jot down "worked on quake project" in your resume, then you will move on regardless.

It's kind of my position here at QuakeOne.com... spot trolls/spammers/assholes... decide if they deserve a ban or not. Make a note of it and watch their movements.

Also I use that thing we have inside our skulls called a brain for boring nerdy stuff things like remembering things and such...
