owning a farm, growing hemp as a cash crop, and making rope and fabric from it is not the same as smoking weed. historical arguments don't have much force--today's strains are much stronger than anything before the 70s or 80s. having lost some dear friends to weed along the way, i'm hesitant about the legalization thing

Honestly spook while I don't smoke weed and never will, or do any other drug, I fully support legalization of marijuana. Why? Well first off everyone who really wants to does it anyway... it will ease up on the police force and give them more time to spend chasing REAL criminals instead of the classic pot smoking teenager, and it will be great for the economy if you can legally pick up an everyday pack of weed cigarettes just like you would pick up your favorite brand of tobacco cigarettes on the way home from work at your local convienence store, since your money is going directly into the system and not some drug dealer's pocket (although this is a moot point since that money will only be spent elsewhere anyways, but it would benefit some businesses regardless)

If you meant you've lost friends to weed as in they lost their life as a direct relation to marijuana consumption (or,because they was under its influence) I'm sorry for your loss, but thats such bullshit.I wont run to google gathering statistics on marijuana related deaths, mainly because they dont exist unless stupidity played a role, like do not operate heavy machinery under the influence of stimulants, etc. About the strains being more potent, that serve's no real purpose here other than stating the obvious, times change.
America was founded by hemp farmers. 1975 President of the American
Historical Reference Society and consultant for the Smithsonian Institute,
Dr. Burke, counts the following seven U.S. presidents as cannabis
smokers: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, James
Monroe, Andrew Jackson, Zachary Taylor and Franklin Pierce, as well as
Ben Franklin. 'Father of Our Country" George Washington once recorded
his preference for female plants and mentioned a "curious" preparation
(5-26-1974 letter), possibly hashish, made from the resins of hemp
flowers. After Abe Lincoln's assassination, his wife was prescribed
hashish for her nerves. John F. Kennedy was known to smoke marijuana
for his back pain and to favor legalization. (Washington farm journals,
Jefferson diaries, national archives, etc.)
sorry mindz i don't find your petty triumphalism endearing. same like you did to peg. i'm aware that the legalization lobby is very well-developed, and if you want to get your history from lobbyists that's your right, but please at least spare us the burden of presenting it as honest scholarship. i'm repeatedly amazed how growing hemp to make fabric and rope in the 1700s and 1800s is equated, in the mind of the smoker, into all of the founding fathers smoking weed. oh hey, most of them owned slaves too, so should we?
LOL, nothing sore about that loss. I'm beginning to see where Baker was coming from, if it doesnt fall into "your opinion" category, its automatically labeled, categorized, and processed for anything less than factual.
Go save the world from global warming or something newb.
