No problem Static....Not yet rated. I was thinking the same thing, in fact, my post I edited because I thought Tron was the first Disney [PG] rated film, but the Black Hole was rated [PG] which just preceded it.

I haven't gone to a new movie on the day of its opening since I took my little one (now, not so little) to see the first new Star Wars... but... might have to take a day off for this one...

Forgot he was on B5. I wonder if the original TRON character is in this one? Didnt see it in any of the trailer, but there is a renegade Flynn character.

How about all us nerds meet up at Rooks place and go see the movie as a group

Just got back from the theater..wow.

                        wow.

                        wow.

It met and exceeded my hopes, filled my viens with a hot electric charge I have not known in a long time! 3d has definitely come a long way since I last saw a movie in the theaters in 3d. (extra $4 if you see it in 3d) They definately kept the traditional Tron style in many ways from the first one, and blended in tons of newer hi-tech as well. The soundtrack (daft punk) was perfect all the way through. Here in NY the entire audience, including myself, applauded when it was over. Thanks to Jeff Bridges and Stephen Lisberger, the creator, 2 very kool programz !

it was just about everything i expected, which is good

But one thing I didn't expect was it to reference (I think, it was VARY similar) the end of Waterworld with the speech that Dennis Hopper gives; the wording of Clu's speech in Tron is similar and even the camera angles, i actually started thinking Waterworld the second I saw the ship they were on.

                          could just be coincidence though...

I saw WW, but dont see the parallel. Do you mean Clu telling all the other system programs his plans with regards to the world of the users?

One review I read, says watching Clu was ' painful ' , because I guess they could plainly see it was a CGI effect. They did the same thing with the Terminator near the end in the most recent terminator movie.

But, yea, looks like Legacy is the current top movie in America. Tempted to see it again, and that soundtrack really adds depth to the experience. I think the soundtrack is already in stores.

Yes that's the part, how he's talking about taking the users world, and I was like; 'large tanker like ship, army all standing aboard the deck, leader addressing from balcony about taking land which they feel is rightfully theirs but the viewers see otherwise... This seems vary familiar...' and that was just the setting, I felt there were other similarities in speech and camera angles like I said.

I don't see Clu being CGI a problem, because he's not really a real person but a thing that only exists digitally.

I didn't see the most recent Terminator movie, but when I think machines I think of jerky movement, like stop animation; it just gives this creepy inhuman feel to them... Which is kinda what robot movies are based on.

Too be honest I wasn't sure if I would enjoy the soundtrack that well because I was kind of tired of hearing Daft Punk (at least the Discovery album) But during the movie I couldn't believe I doubted, guess I actually still like Daft Punk but not the Discovery album; overrated and overplayed imho, especially better faster harder stronger which if they played that I would have been mad.

Ok, sure its the same kind of analogy. I can think of numerous movies and TV shows that use, and have used it. There is an older piece of Sci-Fi called ' light years ' aka: ghandahar , that has a similar scene in it when the metal men have a leader doing exactly what Clu is doing. I guess its meant to show threat to what we perceive as reality, and get us ready to root for victory in the end battles.

Me neither. I thought it was the best long term special effect in the entire movie. Clu was actually in the first movie too, got de-rezed by the MCP trying to raid a high clearance memory in a tank program. I always hoped through the years they would bring him back...yes, Clu is really a digital program created by Flynn.

Well , the terminator movie had it near the very end, with not so many complicated movement scenes as Legacy though. Yes, it fits in better with something like the terminator, which would also by nature, have jerky kind of movement, good point.

Never listened to them too much through the years. I have the soundtrack to the movie ' The Saint ' 1996, with Val Kilmer, and there is one track by daft punk that is kind of interesting.
