Just saw it in 3d. It did nothing for me. I fell asleep in the middle, even with bone rattling bass in the theater. It was pretty much all visuals and whiz bang effects; the plot alternated between the hackneyed father-son "live up to my image and save the world" thing and shit that just did not make sense. Thumbs down

Wow, I completely missed the name tie-in there from the beginning of the first one.

        Really?

Some are saying they were disappointed with the plot / story too, but I really didnt expect it to have much human substance. After all, we are inside a computer. I think maybe this one took a step away from the original in that we are using essentially human looking characters all the way through. In the original we had some animated items going like the ' bit ' that was helping Clue out, then found his way to Flynn when he hijacked the recognizer. Also the special effect they used in the original that blended everything happening inside the computer to looking like it was all on the same playing field, was gone, and you got the impression here that this was being (or could be) played out in the real world of today, to a degree.

Just got the soundtrack at FYE. I am definitely gonna go see the movie again. There is so much information that tracks on the CD remind me of, I forgot to give them much thought during the movie. I could be entertained by this movie and the music , for a real long time....just simple minded I guess

I went to see this in 3D, it has a good beginning but like Spooker said the middle kinda takes a dive. 3/4 into the movie I could't wait to get the hell out of there. Its NERD PORN.

It seemed to shift to a more human side near the middle, and while I felt that letdown too, it reminded me this is not just movie about a video game with battle scenes. Thinking about it some more, the actor playing the son was at best so-so, and all through the battle scenes, he seemed like he was just playing a video game....never really put any emotion into the scenes, so I think they did as much as they could with what he was, and had to move on quickly.

The visuals in this movie were astounding. This comment is coming from someone --- cringes -- that was unimpressed with the Avatar movie. Tron Legacy's plot was slightly better than the norm, but ultimately predictable. The bike fight was unreal.
Quakeone.com - Being exactly one-half good and one-half evil has advantages. When a portal opens to the antimatter universe, my opposite is just me with a goatee.

So while you guys all have to fight your anti-matter counterparts, me and my evil twin will be drinking a beer laughing at you guys ...

Remember vector-graphic arcade games? (Asteroids) Tron's CGI style reminds me of that, but done with some carefully selected enhancements taken out of the kind of CGI you see in Avatar. The kind of CGI in avatar, is same as Lord of the rings, and lots of other stuff you can see on Sci-Fy(scy-fy) channel, so from a tekkie perspective, I can see why one would not be impressed by that. The plot from Avatar was really what offset the CGI enough so that it was a success. I didnt think it was a huge success, but James Cameron always finds a way to blend these 2 elements to make them entertaining movies....from Aliens, to Titanic.Wonder what we would see if James Cameron directed a Tron movie? Or how about a 'miami vice ' style plot with Michael Mann?
