Thought I'd chime in with some more useless comments.

If you knew anything about anything you'd know that AS Ceramique is very old news.
You're better off with Arctic Cooling MX-2 or Tuniq TX-2. If you've got money to burn, both have new revisions (MX-3 and TX-3).
And "Performance Ratings" for older AMD processors means shit. Stick to actual CPU clockspeeds. You can OC your CPU all you want, but that video card is the main thing holding you back.
I've never seen someone so proud of a piss-poor performing 8500GT before. Kudos to you. Save the effort for a worthwhile GPU.

CPU clockspeeds aren't everything. I'd much rather have the 2.66GHz i7 920 than the 3GHz PII x4 945. The i7 is a lot faster than the PII line clock for clock, just like the Athlon XPs were faster than the Pentium 4s. It's best to keep up on things or do a bunch of research or asking around at tech sites before you buy.e|------------------------0---------------

my advice is to get a graphic card that supports hdmi , you will love itand get yourself a damn hdtv that has a hdmi plug in thats not too big and not too small,... ati and nvidia has those cards, .. get yourself a gtx 200 series since u dont like ati , my chipset is nvidia aswell and im mostly everything with them i like their stuff.

Well, anyone hating on the 8500GT or one of its aftermarket performance companies like XFX,Sapphire, and like mine, the ASUS model of the 8500GT all meet this criteria...which is supports DX10 , runs todays games (I can play Crysis,Prototype,Velvet Assassin, and tons of other games that get released to the Xbox360 / PS3 platforms. The 8500GT still does me justice in 2009,playing games using DX9. Once its fairly solid requirements for DX10 I'll make the switch to Windows7 and skip Vista. The 8500GT is a low-end DX10 option, and can't no one trump my experience on whether this card sux or not haha!
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...-829-_-Product = An absolute steal,and I think I might get this card... I bought a Sapphire Radeon x1650 and I wasnt disappointed.
Price (50 bucks, for a whole lot of GPU power.)
Any nVidia "fanboys" can get their feathers in a ruffle considering ATi has the fastest card on the market now, it might not be this card, but YEA, FASTEST CARD ON THE MARKET... Don't get that 4650: it's DDR2. Bleh.
The 8500GT supports DX10? Yeah, it technically does. That would run about as well as a car that was left untouched out in middle of the the desert for 30 years. I ran Crysis on my 8500GT once on Medium settings (1440x900) no AA, no AF and it was noticibly choppy when nothing was going on, and next to unplayable when stuff did happen. STALKER Shadow of Chernobyl ran crappy unless I turned dynamic lighting off and turned all the graphic sliders down to about 3/4 potential, and that was with my overclocked 8600GTS. It was next to torture playing BF2142 with my 8500GT, because every time there was some sort of dust or smoke or if something blew up, the frames dropped to bullshit and I would die because I couldn't see what was going on.
Yep, the 5970 is the fastest card on the market right now, but at $600+ and Fermi lurking around the corner, I wouldn't bite that bullet just yet. I would see what Fermi does and then choose. Bonus: once ATI gets competition in the 5xxx series, prices will go down.e|------------------------0---------------

NVIDIA Unveils Next Generation CUDA GPU Architecture ? Codenamed ?Fermi? , sounds like a bunch of blow-hards trying to hype themselves up.
Seriously, ATi is doin thangs and Nvidia is thinkin bout doin thangs.
Just like if one of you techie's who think there nerd goggles are thicker than the guy next to you, seriously. Talk shit about the card I use, or the one I linked to. They are not chump hardware, if the video card I use is keeping pace running the same games the 360 and PS3, then obv something is going right.Want to get into playing Quake again? If you're going to upgrade, at least get this:
Newegg.com - SAPPHIRE 100295HDMI Radeon HD 4670 512MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card - Desktop Graphics / Video Cards
This card is $65 with free shipping. The card you linked to is $55, but it doesn't have free shipping, so it comes out to be about $61. I would gladly pay the extra $4 to get the card I linked to since it has GDDR3 @ 1600MHz, which is twice as fast as the memory on the card you pulled up, which has GDDR2 @ 800MHz. Also, the card I linked to has the graphics processor clocked to 750MHz while the card you linked to is only clocked to 600MHz.e|------------------------0---------------
