Did you notice a boost in over-all Quake performance ? (same video card = better performance, then u must have had a CPU/elsewhere bottleneck.)

I assume you moved the jumper on the drive and mounted it as "slave" Correct?

you may try to look in the bios settings and enable 32 bit dma transfers.
There is a setting for that in the OS somewhere as well I believe.Pay attention to the boot screens and make sure the cable is an 80 pin if it is an ata drive. Most likely you have SATA though.Somewhere on the drive there should be a marking for the jumper to select master or slave just check it to be sure the jumper is in the right position. There may be more settings in the bios for the drive settings as well. good luck

I'm betting more money that the drive is just shot. I find zero plausibility that mono "turned on or off" anything. HardDrives don't need their balls rubbed for speed, they either work or don't. Sounds like the HD is shot. It shouldn't take as long as he is describing under any circumstances.

Uhm, most CPU's that "inclue" HeatinkFans are high rpm / tiny when compared aftermarket heatsink fans, that typically tend to be larger and lower RPM.

My stock 955BE supplied HS/F solution easily reached 5000+ RPM and sometimes higher , and tended to sound like a fn jet engine.

Im at cax.quakeitup.com ready to serve your ass some fresh grapes

WOW u just got kicked for being AFK, I guess that means I win through forfeit HEHE

Did you fall out drunk/droolin on the KB? WTFOK where are you.

So you compared a Socket AM3 125W cooler with a i3 socket 1155 65 watt cooler and think it MUST be loud as hell eh? Then you say the Drive is toast because it does not just work automagically in the new rig when he never mentions any problem in the other?
Yea you just take your own advice and smoke your weedies before you give anyone tech advice "BRAH"
