i'm not so against labels like nationality or race. i'm more against when those labels are improperly used. labels do serve a humane and positive purpose.

i know my asian buddies deeply appreciate when i inform my redneck friends that there actually IS a difference between japanese and chinese. although i lose the interest of my other friends when i try to explain all chinese are asians, not all asians are chinese.

UPDATE

Thank you guys again for signing up. Today is the big day! Let me go over a few things just as reminders. If you are unfamiliar with any of these please refer back to the original post for more details.



- All players please make sure you have 1 hour of uninterrupted time to set aside for this tonight. It will be a quickly played streamlined tournament with no breaks.

- Bluntz and Rampage You guys are the first match. Please be at Rage.Quakeone.Com Port 26005 by 6PM CST tonight.

- No one is allowed to hang out at Port 26005 during other players matches. You have to wait at Rage 26000 or some other server.

- If you do connect in to 26005 during someone else's match just MM2/Say_Team message me where you are going to be and leave.

- You will be given 5 minutes once we find you and tell you to report to 26005
for your match.

- No Camping and no constant running/avoiding the other player.

- Win with Dignity and lose with Grace. Listen guys, I can't tell you how to behave in Quake but I am going to ask you to please consider this: We are a very small population. You see all of these guys day in and day out all year long. Pretend like we are having a sit down face to face LAN party and carry yourself as you would in that situation.

I know it burns to lose to a lucky shot, or just lose in general. If you lose tonight you might still be the better player but that person just got the better of you tonight. Just congratulate the winner and move on. We will have more of these and you don't want to have that reputation. Also for the Winners again, win with dignity. NO need to spam insults or rub someone's face in it.


UNPLEASANTRIES

Here are the no fun details. If you are more than 5 minutes late without letting anyone know we will have to disqualify you. There won't be any exceptions.

If you join 26005 and are talking during others matches in the main chat we will kick you off the server. Not in a mean way, just to say hey, come back in a moment and use MM2. Same goes if you join and are just idling or watching.

If you are constantly running and avoiding fighting the other player, or camping. Badaim and I will confirm to each other and then issue a warning. If you continue to do this you will be disqualified. We are going to try and be hands off though and intervene when its blantantly obvious.



Final Thoughts

Everyone should just have a good time and good luck to you all. The winner will be announced after the tournament and PayPal'd the Prize. I will post the winner and then Ranking/Seeding of everyone after this. If we have another CA Tournament we can use the rankings from this to help seed the next tournament. It might take me a day or so to post the demo's but those will be up as well in this same thread.

Hey guys we unfortunately have had 4 people that cant make it now. However that is good news for the rest of you! You have less people to beat to win $50!
Below are the updates. These are not set in stone and could change if the player decides to come back in time for his match.

BTA.Monster vs KP-MindzX - BTA Monster has cancelled as well so unless he shows up, MindzX will win by forfeit.

DeathKnight vs JBone - DK has cancelled as well so if he doesn't show up, JBone will win by forgeit.

some people just can't handle the pressure of imminent defeat. they are dropping like flies right as "put up or shut up" moment approaches. so lets have a moment of silence for those with weak testicular fortitude and absolutely zero gumption. especially pat. lol jk, i know those guys would make it if they could. (shocked mindz hasn't quit yet. )

i like the no camping/excessive hiding idea. will be tough to enforce but still a good idea. is this going to be one of those rules where it's not really brought up unless the opponent complains a lot? or is there going to be a proactive approach to keep it from happening at all? i only ask because i have a lot of experience with most of these guys and they all run until the cows come home when they play me. especially vis and ramp. teehee

but seriously, some guys are habitual runners (not pointing fingers).
